Unless I hit my head one more time....

Mine will be here Tuesday. I’ll post up a video if it’s vastly different than stock

If we can’t get one in aluminum maybe someone can make a hybrid model with steel frame and aluminum steps to reduce weight or a carbon fiber one might be blingy but definitely unique

Agreed, it's pretty light. I think the tolerance of the lifts are that small.

There are aluminum ladders out there, but Victory’s looks to be the strongest and most secure from what I’ve seen.

Heavy duty struts from lift support depot (PM3304) installed

@Oldtoyotaguy I would probably recommend the medium duty ones.

With the bare ladder, it definitely takes some strength to pull down and close. They shoot the hatch up from a close position as soon as you open the hatch.

not a problem for us guys but shorter ladies may have some trouble.

If you’re installing these with the ladder on, please use a second set of hands or a support for the hatch to keep open. One OEM strut supporting the hatch will slam it down if you’re not careful.

    Hey Jynarik,
When I look on the Lift Support Depot site, PM3304 are for Cadillacs/GMC trucks. That part number doesn't come up when I search for struts for 4Runners. Did they recommend those to you?

    Thanks.

I think I’ll stick with an aluminum one from Greenlane Off-road. They told me it works with stock struts and weighs 8 lbs.

They are the "ladder without Rotopax" version.
I'll use strut clamps when I have the Rotopax filled and mounted.

Struts came in with quick shipping.
Install took about fifteen minutes. Probably less if my girlfriend who was holding the hatch open was taller.

The struts work well with the ladder weight. Probably a little stronger than the factory ones were without the ladder.

Hey 100RNR, so the big test isn’t whether it holds up the hatch, it’s whether your girlfriend will be able to open and close it without complaining that it’s too stiff!

If she couldn't close it easily, I'd be hurt too badly to write these posts....
