I'm a KO2 fan...but I'm old and set in my ways. If something works I stick with it...it's why I've been married for over 30 years. I have 5 sets on vehicles now (3 pictured here). My son drives the 2002 Tacoma and I drive the 2019 Tacoma.

My wife downsized her vehicle (went smaller) last year (empty nesters now) - she decided she wanted a 4 Runner. I had the guys take off the Nitto tires and put a set of KO2s on it, before she went to the showroom to pick it up (that's why in the pic the tires are so shiny). She's had the 4Runner for a year (as of 2/28/03) and she likes the tires on and off road.

We own a horse farm and these tires are a good all around tire. I think I'll get 75K out of this set (on my Tacoma) and that is my experience with them. Good luck!IMG_1749.jpgIMG_2163.jpgIMG_2082.jpg

I loved the aggressiveness of KO2.
But for some reason ... majority of the wobbles/shimmy reported are related to KO2
    Could be wrong though.

Hence am leaning toward Toyo III/TA or Defender when my current G96B is toast.

I agree with the wobbles feeling, and again not scientific feeling.

Never experienced that in all the years and number of vehicles that I had the KO2 on and that is 7 different ones and a couple of them I wore em out and replaced with same thing lucky I guess?

I have definitely read this from others as well, but have read a lot of folks (Especially when I was on Tacoma World) having issues with those and Falkins i believe it was.

Best tire I ever ran in snow (other than a dedicated snow tire which I never put on any of my vehicles but did put on my kids cars) ws the Interco TRXus M/T.

And I absolutely would put them on the 4Runner if they had a size I thought I could fit without a BMC. Ran 285/75r16's on my '05 Frontier...two sets of them (the downside was I only got about 35k out of a set). If only they offered a 285/70r17...

Yeah agree that does not surprise me since there are more Tacos owners out there than 4Runner owners and with that as with anything when the numbers are higher so is the chance of an issues being magnified more rather it is real or not and Taco world does seems to have a rather sensitive bunch there to anything that might be without really digging into what the issue really is.

Argh that looks sooo freakin good! How about maybe just start a thread with just pictures of your 4 runner lol.

I think this is the right proportion for the tall-skinny look on a 4runner. It gives it a really good “utilitarian government truck” look to it. I mean that in all the best ways. I just love that look. Don’t know if I could do it without thinking of a re-gear, so I really want to hold off making impulsive decisions on this size when the time comes. How’s it been so far?

Two that I know and hit the trails with have been running the Patagonia M/T-02 tires and have been seeing good results in the traction area but neither one of them have 4Runners and only one of them is a daily driver with a Bleep Gladiator...

Had the ATx on the F150 I just traded, had to baby the throttle in the rain (granted, light rear end, almost 400hp but still, never had that problem with the Falkens).

Thanks for positive feedback, i went from the Falken 285/70/17 MT’s to these Toyo 285/75/17 RT’s and i do not have enough miles on to give a decent review on them, but they feel great on road. They are much quieter than the Falkens, i also thought about the re-gearing thing but i use sequential a lot, and it feels fine so far. I will see how it goes. Thanks again.

@SlvrSlug those look fantastic! At first I thought they were a 255/85, till I zoomed in on the photo of the sidewall. They still look kind of narrow, and they look to fit inside the fenders really well.

Thanks, I honestly thought some folks would go crazy because i stayed with the Sema wheels, but i am good with that decision.

Nah, I think they look great on those wheels. Plus they seem to be the perfect fitment, they don't stick out a lot and I bet that helps keeping them from rubbing.

Are those 17x8? I like the look of a lot of aftermarket wheels, but I don't like that most of them are 17x9, IMO that's too wide.

I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and am very happy with them. In mid January, I drove over the Sierras in snow up to Boise for a couple of weeks. I was there long enough to get snowed on four times. On Sunday the 29th, I headed back to the Bay Area. From the moment I reached the pass coming out of Idaho on US 95, I was on snow all the way to Nevada. In Reno, we hit a snowstorm in progress all the way up the eastern slope of the Sierras. I said all of that to say, I love my truck, I am very happy with the Rdge Grapplers in snow, and would not hesitate buying them again.

Ask again in about a week and I will. I have a set of 255/80R17 Toyo Open Country MT's and Method 701 wheels on order. :D

Wow, you had an adventure. I had a road trip last fall through the Rockies and was concerned about weather, but all I encountered was wind.

Having a good 4wd works with about any tire.

If I was driving an old school rear wheel drive car, I would be more selective with a tire for winter conditions.

Huge fan of the Nitto Ridge Grappler. I had them on my 2020 T4R @ 285/70/17. Very minimal road noise with a aggressive thread pattern. Did well in the sand also.

    bone stock for now
BFG KO2 Load range C unless driving in lots of rocks then the stiffer and heavy load range E is better because the side wall has more thickness.

I’ll look forward to hearing about that setup. When you get the 255’s mounted and dialed in please post all the details: wheel width and offset, plus any measures you had to take to remediate rubbing.

Will do. The wheels are the Method 701's, 8.5" wide, 0 offset, and my truck has a 2"(ish) OME lift. I'm guessing I'm going to have to remove the front mud flaps and possibly trim small plastic from the front fender well, but we'll see. I'm hoping it won't be more invasive than that. I'll post photos and a full review once it happens.

Love my Duratracs in C load. Awesome in the snow and very acceptable in the rain compared to others. Good ride too and not terribly noisy.
