but if you don't get to take delivery within the 30 days (which seems to be the case with most), wouldn't it be pointless to discuss pricing prior to agreeing?

Ill have to look at my paperwork, but I put a deposit down on an agreed pricing for an agreed vehicle. I would lose my shit if I walked into the dealership after waiting over 30 days and they told me the agreement was no longer valid. Like seriously probable have to have the police come remove me. Then I would probably spend a lot of time near the dealership with a sign or something informing others how the dealership treated me. I don't take to kindly to companies screwing customers.

Haha I almost did, but they seemed genuinely mortified that they made that mistake and within 10 minutes had solved it to my satisfaction. So I give them the benefit of the doubt. I’m not sure what I would have done if they tried to push the issue. On one hand, I’d still be happy to get MSRP plus the insanely high trade in on my Tundra. But on the other hand, it would have been a blatant bait and switch. But fortunately it didn’t get to that point and I do think they made an honest mistake.

Well TBH, I was kind of expecting to get screwed regardless. I had a perfectly good Tundra and wasn’t in desperate need of something, so just figured I’d play along and see what happened. If they actually tried to up the price I could just walk away since I didn’t put down a deposit. I’d probably had been a little more serious about it if I really needed transportation. But it all worked out pretty well and now I’m pleasantly surprised to have a new ride sitting in the driveway. 3394B4DA-271A-4AE6-AEE1-37182553EC44.jpg

Ya, I’m in the want not need category, if it doesn’t work, I drive home in my 2017 taco with 40k on the clock.

    Tragic.
If anyone is interested in a Lime Rush for $57k (not sure if that’s the reduced price due to the damage)…
    It’s at Tuscaloosa Toyota.

That is exactly why I didn’t get mine shipped from the dealer. Glad I drove it back home 1500 miles. Damn that sucks

It’s 2000 miles from me. I was looking in to shipping it. Now I’m reconsidering that idea.

In all of my inquiries I have gotten a dealer down from $10k markup to $5k…just over email.
I still said no, but figured I’d see how low I could get them.
Just and FYI for anyone willing to pay more. They will negotiate. This dealer has had this Pro for at least a few weeks.

That’s cool that they are not taking advantage.

However it is sad day when our “new standard” becomes buy at MSRP. We should all be thankful to buy at MSRP if you can get one with options close to want we want.

We should all just start lowering our expectations I suppose

what's it like moving from a Tundra to a 4Runner? I'm on my 4th Tundra now with a new 4Runner on order and I've never even sat in one. i'm a little nervous. only making the move so I can park in the garage this winter. I would have just gotten a Tacoma but it would never work with my dogs. thx

I think it is less than that, my 2021 pro sticker was within 55-56K range (forgot the exact value), including destination. Who knows, maybe they got it for over MSRP also, in which case they could make less than 10K...

I talked to them yesterday. Guy was super nice but stated that it would be 2-3k over MSRP and then sent me an invoice for 5k over and said sorry I was on vacation last week, this is what we are charging now.

Hey there, I know what you mean. I agonized quite a bit. We had a camper earlier in the year but decided to go back to tent camping, so no longer needed to tow. We have a 2 year old and a medium sized dog. Here are my observations so far:
    • Even after adding Wildpeak AT3Ws, MPGs are way better. We were averaging about 13-14 MPG in mixed driving in the Tundra, and are now getting around 18-21 MPG in the 4Runner.
    • The 4Runner is massively better off road. I knew it would be ultimately more capable but didn’t expect it to be so much more enjoyable in moderate situations. Even in situations that the Tundra could probably handle, the 4Runner is smoother and more confident. It’s just more fun and relaxing.
    • Rear seat room is still plenty even though it’s a little smaller.
    • The infotainment is much better—having CarPlay is great.
    • I’m 6’3”. Some people have complained about front seat room in the 4Runner but I haven’t had any issues. We’ve had a 6 hour drive so far and I was completely comfortable. I don’t have a sunroof so maybe that’s why.
    • Being able to fit in the garage is AWESOME. You’re really correct about that :)
    • Having an enclosed space in the back for the doggo is also great. It’s way easier than putting her on the seat then spending an hour vacuuming up the hair.
    • As far as the truck bed goes, I can’t really think of a situation where a utility trailer wouldn’t suffice, so I’m keeping an eye out on Craigslist or will just rent a cheap one when necessary.
    • The Tundra was definitely a better highway cruiser. Ride quality is similar, but the power of that 5.7 really makes a difference. I live in CO and the 4.0 in the 4Runner is adequate but definitely not as effortless as the Tundra. Overall, I think it’s worth the sacrifice for the better MPG, more useful cargo area and off-road abilities.
At the end of the day, it’s a 4Runner and it’ll hold it’s value until the sun dies out and Earth is just a frozen, dead block of ice. So if you end up not liking it, you can always sell it for a minimal loss and go back to a truck. It seems like a big decision when you’re in the midst of it, but at the end of the day, there’s really no bad option for you. Good luck!

There seems to be some softing going on in the market. I agreed to buy one of my ORP's at MSRP. Weeks after placing my deposit the finance manager called to asked how I was planning on purchasing since I was out of town. I told him I was paying cash, but would consider a low rate option and transfer my cash to managed money.

Bottomline- they gave me a 2.24% rate and discounted the 4Runner $1,500 off MSRP if I would take the 2.24% rate and not pay it off in the first 3 months. They must be getting some incentives on the finance side.
