When you post incorrect information expect to be corrected. Sometimes it will get a little messy on a forum

Incorrect maybe but all I see is different opinions and people acting like jerks to people trying to talk about a subject. My but Dyno is different that your so don’t tell me mine is wrong. It’s why I don’t really ask question in this forum as people are asses when they don’t agree with what I am doing.

I have run KN filters for about 25years on my toys and never had an issue with them. Ran these vehicles to well over 150k. I agree they can be more peppy and feel like better response on the throttle. So there is my opinion about the subject.

It has been proven that K&N air filters DO let more air flow. But the negative is that they are letting more dirt into your engine. You may have got 150K miles out of some vehicles, but you might not get to 300K running K&N because of the damage the dirt does internally.

On a side note, did Trumps "mean tweets" bother you also?

I dunno. I look at it like this........ If he or she feels a difference, good for them. People will talk down intakes and exhaust, which I can agree do very little. But theres a difference I guess. I added a injen intake a while back. Then I also recently put on a trd exhaust. And I'd say they added a slight something, cough, cough(increase). But so does running 93 octane. Its very slight but its there ;)

You may get 3 more hp from the air filter. Throttle body spacers are snake oil. The air filter lets more air through, because it is a worse filter.

Regarding airflow and the frequent posts regarding K&N good/bad, I wonder if anyone has done this: dyno a 4R with the OEM filter in place (several times if needed), then remove the filter and dyno again. That would at least provide min and max benchmarks.

The best test to tell whether any given engine is "starved" for air and thus would somehow benefit from a "better" air filter - by doing a high-resolution vacuum test tapping the area between the filter and the throttle body and looking at the vacuum readings. We've been doing this for decades on high-hp PD blower cars. All else is internet speculation.

Would be interesting but I'll let someone else spend the money. And I don't have a 4R to help out.

While you may be correct, that sort of info wouldn’t necessarily satisfy some who are looking for comparisons that are quantified in hp gains or losses.

I am correct. And it doesn't matter what people want to hear - what matters are the numbers and the data. It's the Tik Tok generation, everyone wants a 12 second video telling them what to do.

I bought headers for my GTO today. Hopefully I see a 30mpg increase and at least 1K horsepower.

Flow bench! I bet the restriction is at the head where it would naturally be.

I've never seen it. I did watch The 5th Element last weekend because I hadn't seen that in awhile. And, because Milla Jovovich. :anonymous:
