I have been watching all your videos trying to determine what I want to do to my limited. Did you try this lift after the Elka 2.5?

I think the black is awesome (don't care that it's common). On our black rig, yeah, I am thinking gunmetal. Not sure if matte or glossy, glossy may be easier to clean as it will be on gravel roads.

The Elka was on my TRD Offroad and this Ironman FCP on Limited.
On a High level Ironman FCP is decent on road and decent on gravel / forest road. Haven't take Limited on a real trail. ELKA 2.5DC is a dream on rough roads and trails.

I try not to spend too much on Limited as its our on road 4Runner. But if I have to pick Ironman FCP vs ELKA 2.5DC, I would pick ELKAs. Maybe unrealistic, I wish I can have a suspension tuner who can tune any damn suspension with remote res to be comfy as XREAS onroad and turn adjusters to be as comfy as ELKA 2.5DC on trails that would be a dream come true. Sadly even at the price tag of $4000+ ELKA does not have the comfort of XREAS to my taste on road.

Yep, I’m trying to find that balance now. Not sure where to go as there are tons of options. I’m leaning Elka 2.5, Dobinsons, or Ironman. My fear is that I’ll spend $4k and have a harsh on road experience where I’ll mostly be.

Donor would be best. Seems like a pulled third row is easy enough to find but the second row is also different and swapping those is usually not included in the purchase of a third row. So you’d end up with this weird hybrid between a 2 row and a 3 row with all the downsides of both and non of the upsides. Seatbelts for third row are also rarely included.

Looks like but isn't. I suppose you'd prefer it to look like a Kia Telluride?

I meant no one will know the effort it took to masquerade a limited as a turd pro. It doesn’t “stand out”

PPF, especially top rated ones like XPEL (ones that ‘self-heal’ and have a 10 year warranty that they won’t yellow/ crack) are hardly reasonable.

Price depends where you’re located and the quality of the job - on Oahu, they run $5k for full PPF for a “roll the dice” on quality of install and $7k for the highly rated installers. Full front runs around $2.5k and just high impact areas (hood, mirrors) around $1k. Quality ceramic on top of that runs another $1k. I’m sure the mainland has more competition in terms of pricing.

You also want them to wrap beyond the edges vs just doing a precut template - that’s a good gauge of the quality of install.

for some, they find those prices prohibitive and I think that’s fair/ get why - for others, it’s 100% worth it and I think it can be justified if those factors are what matters to you (mines being installed this week, so no shit I think that lol).

Again, for me it’s about protecting the clear coat in a high salt/ high UV intensity environment, minor scratches, door dings/ rock chips, third party parking incompetence and peace of mind.

As with justifying any 4Runner “mod”, buy once, cry once

Yeah, one MN Xpel installer says "partial hood, fenders, front bumper, mirrors, and door edges" for $1200. Is that about right?

For ceramic, the same installer (using Xpel ceramic coatings) will do 0.3 mil thickness, "4 year ceramic coating": Hand wash, Clean wheels & tires, Clay bar & iron decon, 1 step correction (takes out up to 80% paint defects), Clean windows & door jambs - for $850 on a mid size SUV.

The other item I need to consider is undercoating. A local place will do Woolwax for $500 (Small SUV) or $650 (Large Truck), guessing 4Runner would be the former.

Am I on the right track here?
