I went with the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain 275/55R20. They DO scrub when I’m backing up and turning the wheel and when I’m turning the wheel sharp and going forward. I have a 2 inch lift and 1 inch wheel spacers.

E load will kill mileage. A lot more rotating weight. I was looking at that size also.

Hey y'all, I'm looking to start some mods on my stock 5th gen limited. Would it be helpful to change to 17'' wheels instead of 20'' for better offroad performance? I am looking at getting a 2-inch lift in the future.

Changing from 20in wheels and tires to 17in was my fav mod to my Limited even when its our pavement princes. Right now I have 285/70R17 with lift but at stock I would would be happy to see 265/70R17.

Thanks for your feedback. What type lift do you have? Also, I haven't seen much information online revolving around how the XREAS suspension system in the limiteds affect aftermarket suspensions. So could you tell me if you ran in to any issues with your install?

Sadly I removed XREAS from the beginning of my mods. I think I've seen someone adding a spacer on top of the front XREAS shock to get a little lift. Without a lift you should be able to fit 265/70R17 with TRD Offroad wheels.

If you are going remove XREAS and to complete lift mod there are few options and I'm now running Ironman FCP list. I'm trying not to ruin this thread by sharing my Ironman lift video here, but if needed take a look at it, should be easy to find that video on my youtube.com/LionRunner.

So I read all the posts, read other posts on here and another 4runer sight... everyone seemed to be in agreement- for the 2016 5th gen 4runner limited 20" wheels with no modifications no lift no spacers all factory original. I confirmed the max wheel size it could handle with either minor or no rub is 275/55R20 the community had spoken and incase set.

I then research the brands, the different models trying to find a good solid A/T tire...not because Iowa has mountains, not because their are some serious trails, but for the potential- a tire thar could handle wet, dry and snow, and should the zombie apocalypse happen in the next 50k miles, a tire that could take the abuse of getting through whatever woukd bring. Oh hell who am i trying to kid, Im doing it tuff'n up the look - starting with the. Tires. No matter the reason, It seems the research always came back to BFG KO2. I pulled the trigger and placed my order online, (discount tire). I spoke with the online rep and argued my case that the computer is wrong and they will fit. They placed the order and set an appointment time for the same day.... the techs at discount tire get the tire off the 4runner and discover it is a 7" rim not 7.5". They won't mount them for liability reasons, and also mentioned bfg could void the warranty on the tires if they chose to.
The light at the end of the tunnel came when one of the techs worked with me and found that 265/50R20 will fit, and will still be in the "safe range". I went with my safty, and ordered Hankook AT2 XTreem. I know, not the same field as Ko2 but a lower price till I can get some 17" rims.... or maybe 15"..... but only after I get some other ifr approved modds done first...
