YES, no rust that I can see. Even on the heads of the bolts - the first you would notice. For both of my photos in my reports, I had Krown take pictures using my camera just before they applied the application. They won't allow me in the work area. But they gladly took photos for me. Wanted to take the photos while it was on a full lift.

I'm sold on Krown and I believe Fluid Film is a great product too. I'm thinking I need to use it on my tractor and tractor mounted 7' wide snow thrower too. While they don't see salt, in time they develop rust too.

    Yes sir.
Krown is fantastic, I dunno if shops do that product in my region but would have been worth the CAD$ if I did that from near new.

Ultimately, I foolishly missed doing the rust prevention part of my 4R ownership for several years. But I don't have a problem with the driveway applied paint products. I certainly don't hate products that I haven't personally used. Yes, rust will bubble through no matter what in particular areas, because my wife and I let it go for far too long. But it's worth doing whatever rust prevention solution folks choose, at least it's something :)

I believe satisfactory results have followed prepping my metal as properly as did and as proper as I am capable of doing in my garage. While investing good money that will pay me back: wire brushes, wire wheels, drill adapters, brushes, degreaser, metal prep etcher fluid, and PB Surface Shield, black FF, CHAIN WAX.

The kicker is my 2016 has been 100% garage parked since new, but there's loads of road salt used all over my region.
The second kicker is liberally applying black Fluid Film in the frame everywhere possible (without new holes), and PB Surface Shield properly everywhere, after POR15, to give it a longer life.

One day I'll share a POR15 results threads for folks to publically shame!

I’m a huge fan of Krown. Cheap tip - buy a tarp to park on for a few days. It’ll drip for 2-3 days.

Our detailer applied IGL corrosion prevention to the undercarriage of both of our vehicles. What I like is this is a one and done application and did not drip as they have the vehicle sit overnight to cure before we picked it up. We’ve been through one pretty intense snow storm with it so far where the roads were salted heavily and when we took our vehicles to be washed we were told the undercarriage looked just as clean as when it was applied. The salt just bounces off the coating. I’m impressed to say the least.

I just had my 2020 fluid filmed for the first time. My BIL owns the buisness and they mix something in with it for the stuff they spray on the outside of the frame that makes it thicker and cling better. They spray regular FF on everything else. Took about 2.5 hours for them to get everything. There was some surface rust on the welds, but otherwise it still looked clean. They offer descaling which Ill probably have done in the late summer to clean up any of the weld rust and then have it reapplied every fall.

Nice to see you removing spare prior to treatment. This is doing it right.

Parts of my truck you can collect in a bag.. just shake the red dust off first the nice reddish wafer thin metal. I have used FF and still the rust is unreal here with salted roads. I have some front sections with corrosion I have not seen since reviewing marine applications left in a salt exposure cabinet for testing (G85 or B117 types). I plan to repaint the whole under frame this year.

As with everything, you can take a good thing into excess. I use car wash with underbody spray couple times per winter, typically waiting for a warm and dry day to do so, otherwise I leave it alone until the spring when I give it a thorough wash. Salt does most damage when it is part of a liquid brine. If you wash it and leave it wet/frozen - you may be doing some harm.

In my experience, regular washing is not effective at keeping the rust away. Only oil-based rustproofing helps.

Everyone’s winter is different. Here in Maine, I don’t wash the underside in winter. Took a trip through a storm down south, and I couldn’t wait to wash the crap off my vehicle. But it stays warm down there as well.

Nice....a real Mainer! I've been meaning to ask someone up your way what, if anything, they use on their frames/undercarriage for rust proofing. We're planning on relocating there in the next few years and know your road departments sure love the salt/brine.

All the guidance I'm seeing here is primarily Fluid Film or Woolwax, with the occasional experience shared about Krown (which no one around here seems to offer unfortunately). I do like the long-standing history behind Fluid Film in many different applications for the U.S. military, agriculture, aeronautics marketspaces as a tried and true solution, but am having trouble getting over the fact it should be applied annually.

    Just curious - thanks!

I have done fluid film, wool wax and surface shield, nothing scientific, but I’ll keep doing it as it helps.
