So, the KDSS system on the GX is different from the 4Runner? How do you know this?

No. The GX has the same kdss. It's just my opinion that the GX could be awesome except for the plastic that ruins the approach angles. Kinda like how the limited 4runner is best once you change the bumpers

    Because of full time 4wd?

I was referring to the maximum amount of flex. I'd assume the KDSS equipped 4Runners would match the GX.

Edit: and, I totally agree about the GX.

It's a TRD Pro clone minus TRD exhaust and Fox suspension.
Butt time with KDSS is limited to driving a GX460 several hundred miles a few years ago, and more recently test driving a 4R with it for 15 minutes, and immediately after without it for about 15 minutes.

While the difference was not night and day between the two 4Rs, I did still notice a difference. The KDSS 4R felt smoother and less bouncy overall. Not that the non-KDSS had me hanging on for dear life, but corners and bumps just felt less sorted out than in the KDSS. How it translates into off road capabilities, I only have youtube to go by, but it seems to offer marginally better performance due to better articulation than the stock 4R suspension.

Regardless, I liked it enough to go for the option in a Solar Octane TRD ORP allocation that I put a deposit on. My 4R will live 99% of its life on paved roads as my daily so that extra comfort is worth the extra $1700 to me. I also don't have any immediate plans to mod the suspension so that's another reason I chose KDSS.

I've often puzzled about applying a static metric to a system that has "dynamic" in its name.

Pretty fairly assessed, Sega. I found its merits pretty compelling on big roads and on the double decker cloverleafs of big cities, lol. I’m basically a small town country driver, and keeping up with the high speed urban drivers twice a year when I go somewhere felt a bit safer with some stiffer suspension. I also have the advantage of being able to compare my 2018 ORP, with a 2.5 Elka with KDSS with my daughter’s 2020 Pro. Ok, the Pro has a good after market suspension but no KDSS. I’ve driven her Pro quite a bit, but still quite a subjective comparison. Still, the winner is KDSS all day, every day. A no brainer, for me.

Prado is pretty good, Lexus ruined it.
