Has anyone seen the drone footage of thousands of Chinese EV’s rotting away. All produced for an investment scheme and to claim China is going to overtake Tesla. Or the tofu cities or mountains upon mountains of ride share bicycles all investment schemes to fleece investors.

Pipe dreams, bullshit, lies, and fear.

No one should want an EV. Ever. They are terrible for the planet and human's are suffering from greedy people taking advantage of fearful idiots. The Earth is and would be warming without a single human on this planet. Ever seen the North American geography formed from glaciers melting? The primitives must've had a lot of cars 10s of thousands of years ago. Seriously someone with "authority" says something and fools are like, "yes, Daddy!" Currently the north of Europe is having its coldest summer since 1991. This isn't attributed to the cyclic nature of weather patterns, but naturally "Climate Stupidity." Its almost as if people just accept what is spoon fed to them so they can feel safe. What a cowardly way to live. Scratch that, thats not living thats being in servitude. Obey what your masters tell you. They will surely act in your best interests. JFC.

*No clue if the 6th gen is definitely happening. :)

What is the end game with this propaganda?

I find Carl Sagan breaks it down in very easy and simple to understand terms, or was he in on it back in '85?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp-WiNXH6hI

Oil Companies are in on the propaganda as well

Edit - re: Europe's coldest summer

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hottes...obally-study-2022-summer-deaths-europe-61000/

Even Fox News said don't go to Europe this summer because it was too hot

    V4? Huh?

Also, no, the 4Runner will not be keeping the V6.

Conclusions by Exxon and Shell on the direct link between fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions. Interestingly, one of them suggests that it’s government’s job to find a solution. No religion, just competent science done by private corporations.

Yes, oil companies are in on it, duh. Ever heard of Just Stop Oil? Funded by oil companies.

"Northern Europe" Also, CBS is the mafia, er I mean the government. Fox is the same propagandist bullshit as any other corporate media. Funny how your narrow vision blinds you so much that you think linking Fox will give that some validity.

Sagan smoked a lot of dope. A lot. Also, all the climate models & predictions that were put forth at that time have had a zero success rate. So yeah, he tells lies to get funding.

Money, Power, Control is the endgame.

You're pretty vague other than everything is a big conspiracy. You say some intriguing things. I really wish you had any details or more than just "everything is propaganda, mind control power." It would make this a lot more interesting.

I think this would be the first time anyone heard about a V4.

The 6th gen 4Runner will be getting an I4 turbo. And, I think everyone here is well aware of the reason. But, on the plus side, as I've pointed out before, it will have way more usable power than the 1GR.

Anyone curious can drive the 4 cyl turbo now in Lexus models. You all should do so. If you like surges followed by nothing followed by surges followed by nothing or if you ride bucking broncos for a living, you’ll like it. The funny thing is that even though the 4 cyl turbo has more power and torque on paper, it feels and sounds weaker than the 1GR. But don’t take my word for it. drive them both back to back. And after you do you might ask the same question I did: does this 4 cyl turbo belong in a passenger car at all? No. Sorry. Wrong question. The question to ask is does this 4 cyl turbo that isn’t very good in a passenger car belong in a heavy truck? My answer to that question is NO! but YMMV. Try it before you post another word here. Then get in line with the rest of us for a Gen 5.

I had a Lexus NX as a service loaner for a couple of days. It drove NOTHING like you describe. In fact, I was a bit impressed. Stop talking out of your ass.

David Chao agrees with me and clearly says that the new 4 cyl turbos deliver power in a way that might not please most people. And that makes perfect sense because tiny displacement turbo assisted engines behave and drive differently. Test drive one now. In this video, Chao explains, as I have, and suggests getting a V8 or V6 while you still can! At the top if his list and my own list is the Gen 5 4Runner and GX460. Should be no surprise to anyone here. Get informed. Don't let the last of the great engines escape you. Listen to fellow enthusiasts here and ignore the shills!

I got a chance to drive the new highlander with the turbo 4cyl for about 20 miles on the interstate, busy suburban roads, and some country roads. It makes smooth power getting up to speed on the on ramp, and doesnt sound so bad when it’s pulling a little. Also seems to drive fine when light on the throttle at speeds below 50 (between traffic lights). It sounds pretty bad at those speeds though, rough and gravely.

I just looked up some info on it, it makes more torque and less hp, and yields about the same mpg as the outgoing V6. Kind of an odd lateral move, but what can you do about it…. By the way, it still comes with an ASS system…it doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies knowing that this turbo will be shocked with the engine turning on and off at every light. It makes a little electrical motor sound near the turbo afher it’s shut off, so maybe it’s got a pump that keeps temp shocks away…

I don’t mind looking at the engine. Looks like a nice tidy installation. It kind of looks like the turbo is more accessible for maintainance than the 60,000 mile spark plugs on the outgoing V6. You would hope to not need to pull the turbo for maintainance ever, but if you do, it looks like it wouldn’t be a Tundra fiasco.

I have a 2018 Highlander with the atkins cycle v6. The only thing I like about it is mixed port and direct injection, because of the theoretical knowlede that intake valves wouldnt need cleaning as a normal maintainance item. Maybe it’s because it’s an early model, but I find this engine/tranny combination to feel very much like an on/off switch, very difficult to modulate power, very frenetic. It’s unpleasant because of that. The new turbo engine is much smoother in the new highlander.

I think the on/off turbo behavior is a thing of the past, or it’s just a thing that happens when a turbo is slapped on without much thought to properly sizing and tuning it for the vehicle application. It doesn’t have to be an on/off feeling. But it can be if it’s poorly executed for the specific vehicle it’s installed in…Like the V6/8speed combo in my 18 highlander. That was the 1st year of the 8speed in the Highlander…and it was poorly executed from a driveability standpoint.

Hopefully, if the 4runner gets one of these new turbo engines, toyota will take the time to properly flesh out the details for it. Just because an engine/tranny drives well in one car, doesn’t mean it will drive well in a different car.

    Simple: don't buy it.
Look at the non-Tesla EV inventory. The dealers can't give them away. People are voting with their feet, and going somewhere else.

I won’t be in a position, or want to buy, for a long time hopefully, assuming my 4runner goes the distance.

The reason I seemed resigned is that Toyota is pretty much the most conservative out there in terms of mechanical design. Everything
else is going to be less thought out in my eyes. So basically, reputation.
