You don't have to hardcore wheel to use and benefit from sliders. They pay for themselves the first time you scrape or hit something as rocker panel body damage is some of the hardest and most expensive to fix. If you see yourself hitting the dirt sooner vs. later, it's a solid choice.

I say spend it on gas and wheel it as is. Find out through real world experiences off road how it works for your situation and then identify what your limitations are and address them in order of importance.

Alright F it, my cap on truck lighting is officially over!

 

Sliders are good, they can be a practical purchase. Great peace of mind when off-road, they can make a handy step to get to the roof, and they do guard against door dings.

My other suggestion would be to use that money for trips. Either just going out on your own, or maybe take some guided trips with some overlanding groups or some off-road and/or recovery classes.

 

For aquarium, indoor or outdoor parties, stage - supplies, Halloween decorations, OR ZOMBIES

 

Alright, to get on topic, someone suggested saving it until you drive it for a while to figure out what you need. I agree with this and should have taken that advice.

All I really needed was a decent set of tires - which OP has already done. I started with "because I don't run with groups I need a winch to be safe" and that snowballed into a lot of money and weight. I don't personally mind because I've always wanted to go all out on something and I think the 4runner was the right choice if I was going to do it.

If I really daily drove it though (I usually work from home) I'd probably kick myself for the mods. It drives great, no complaints there. But I took something not really fuel efficient and made it even less so.

There is also the mantra of making yourself smile every time you look at it and I certainly do that

Raptor Lights are the Herpes of mod's. If you get them of have them, you shouldn't tell anyone. Ever. And good luck getting rid of them!

 

I like the Trailfinders from Discount Tire. Cheap but good tires.

 

Hey guys there's one thing you can't knock me on, and that's Raptor lights. Won't do it. Those are for Ford's. My offroad lights at least somewhat have a purpose, and perform very well (at blinding things)

 

My raptor lights and my light bar blacklights serve a purpose. To be bad ass.

No offense to ford's but my 4runner looks better than a raptor. They all need to retire their raptor lights.
