How wide can stock 4Runner go with tires?

I always measured my motorcycle tire pressure warm. I had that shit dialed in and always adjusted to within 1 psi of what I wanted (31 front, 35 rear) at the gas station at the bottom of the mountain before I started making runs.

I think that was a bit different though. I got super critical of tire pressure on the bike after the front tire feathered and I layed it down (although those two things may have been unrelated).

If I'm within a handful of psi on the 4runner I call it good. Too much temp variation around here - it's going to be in the 50s tonight and mid 90s by early next week

 

Right, nobody runs street pressure on trails unless they hate themselves. Even if it's just gravel roads, I will drop to about 25 psi. If I plan on doing anything technical, I run anywhere between 12 and 15. But, when I had sock size KO2s, I generally ran between 18 and 25.

I don't doubt that for a second. Vehicle weight, speed on highway, etc. are all variables that come into play.

You always air down on trail, and then air up to drive on the road.

Good luck, heard that many parts will be a while before they reopen. I was there last December the the road you need to take to get to Racetrack Playa was still closed from the flooding the year before (not that I would have attempted to get to Racetrack Playa in a rental...I'm gonna have to take a long drive from the East Coast and get the 4runner out there if I want to see that place.)

At 44 my MPG increased drastically, I'm 20 in town. But at the cost of probably wearing out these tires at 30,000 miles.

The newfangled models will allow you to put TPMS in the spare, and add that to the display on the dash...

 

I bet its mostly because its Load E and making it worse KO2 Load E have 3 ply side wall compared to many other Load E All-Terrain tires only got 2 ply side wall.
I ran closer to 32psi on my 275/70R17 Load E tires because I got rough ride with Load E.

Just out of curiosity I called one of my local dealers about a lift kit. They said the speedometer in the 4Runner cannot be adjusted for the bigger tires. Dang, Toyota does not really want you to modify the 4Runner.

 

Not sure if that's needed, I will try to take a video some time, I see that with my 32.76in 285/70R17 tires my speedo match with the speed displaying boards on the side of the road. It might be the same for 32.8 255/80R17 tire people. Not sure if others experience the same.

I have never tested 285/70R17 that are over 33in tires though.
