I agree there are a few thing I miss from the 4th Gen, however there are many 5th Gen upgrades that I like and I'm still learning from this forum.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Well, since 1997, I've owned an 87 and a 99. I got the 87 in 97, and I kept it until 2020. The main reason I picked it was it was the same Toyota Silver as my pickup, same year, had a 22RE vice a 22R engine, and I needed room to tote the kids around. My wife and I fell in love with it, honestly. The tail gate was real handy for loading up the dog, a rotie/golden lab cross. Big darn dog. Big coward too. He'd let the feral kittens on our property in Yuma eat his food. Layed there with his bowl between his front paws, and watch the kittens have at it. If his node got too close, one of the kittens would turn and slap the heck out of it. We got visitors, he'd bark himself backwards into a corner somewhere and cower there. But it was awfully handy to put down the rear window, drop the tail gate, and he'd jump right up in, so we could take him out 4 Wheelin' in the desert with us. The kids as well, of course.

I sold it in 2020, and bought the 99, just to have a better truck for the winter driving here in Oregon, which we had moved to when Yuma got a little too violent, even for me. I couldn't step out my front door without a side arm, at least. Usually, I'd have a long arm and side arm, both. My property there in Yuma was less than 1/4 mile from the Mexican border.
So we moved to Oregon, once the kids were grown and gone on their own lives. The 99 has all the goodies, sway bars, 5VZFE engine, antiskid, etc etc. I sold the 87 for $5,000 and bought the 99 for, you guessed it, $5000. Slapped a new set of Toyo AT3's on it, gave it a tune up, and away we went. It was a lot nicer to drive in the snow and ice we get in winter here. New experience for both of us, after living in Yuma for almost 30 years. We're pretty much done with off roading.

I'll probably have this 4Runner until my wife and I are both "gone". Have fun, all!

Including a previous life, or just this current one? 4Runner started in 1984.

My first was an 86. Wish I still had it. My 2nd was a 92. I was disappointed in it, don't recall all the reasons. Now I have a 97. I hope to remain in 3rd gen until I'm pushing up daisies

I kind of regret to say I'm on my fifth fifth gen, counting one my wife owned.

2014 Trail bought used in 2015
    2017 SR5
    2017 SR5 (hers)
2019 ORP bought used in 2020
    2024 ORP

All have been great trucks. The 14, 17, and 19 I lifted 2.5" and installed winches on. All three had the front diff needle bearing failure, but no other issues.

I frequently think I should have kept the 19 as it was set up exactly how I wanted it, was my favorite color (MGM), and was the last of the fifth gens without TSS and a fob and all this bullshit they have on my 2024. Can't turn back the clock though.

I like my current Solar Octane. I'm leaving the suspension alone; with good tires it's more than capable, and I'm kind of over lifting and hyper modding my shit!

Just one so far (23 Pro) but I plan to keep it for a long time.

I have owned two 1GR-FEs however.... only the previous one was in a 2014 Taco TRDOR ;) Kinda wish I kept it...

1999 and 2000 only edition, then became know as the 'Sport Package Option' thereafter as Toyota took the name for the new current day Highlander that we know of now.

2005 SR5 (No telescoping steering wheel and couldn't get a comfortable driving position. Sold it after three months.)
2006 Sport (230k. UCA's, lift, wheels and tires. Love this thing. In the garage and may end up my 14-year old's first car.)
2024 ORP (2 weeks old. Miss the automatic climate control the most.)

Just two. A 2006 SR5 and a 2016 Trail. When I was in HS my grandparents had a 1998 Limited and that made me fall in love with the platform.
