How is the Toyota dash cam? Or any other good dash cam recommendations?

OK I could use some help from folks who may have installed a VIOFO duo powered from the mirror.

I have decided to go with the recommendation of the video nano909 posted and get a VIOFO A129 plus duo. I have the dimming mirror on my 2022 SR5P, so intend to power it there as I do not really need the always on ability when parked. I have figured out the correct Dongar adapter to power from the mirror. I have searched here and on the other T4R site and the VIOFO site and could not come up with answers to a few questions.

    1. Is the 6 meter rear cable that comes with the unit long enough for the T4R or do I need their 8 or 10M cable?
    2. The unit comes with a card read adapter but it is not clear if I must order a memory card or whether it comes with one of less capacity than the options?
    3. Where does the rear cable plug in for power up front and do I need some sort of cable adapter to make it work with the Dongar mirror set up?

Thanks in advance for any input.

The rear plugs into the side of the front camera.

The cable that comes with the camera is long enough to go to the back hatch.

The unit comes with a 32G micro SD. I put in a 128G card i had instead.

I used the power kit and tapped into fuse panel. Since i had to run the rear cable anyways. I still turn off the parking mode in the settings.

OK another electrical question from one from the era of points, distributors and dimmer switches on the floor.‍♂️

What does the connection point for the Dongar adapter look like on the mirror. I see a square indention with a white plastic cover inside it on the rear of the mirror. Is that it??

How did you mount the rear cam. I have a A129 plus duo to install and obviously don’t want to adhesive it to the rear roll down window. Looking at these

    https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-folded-bracket-for-secondary-dashcam-lenses/

    https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-metal-mounting-bracket-for-adhesive-dashcam-lenses/

further look seems to indicate that neither of these will work for the A129 rear cam

Just a reminder just glance at the recording status of your dash cam. :):)
Last weekend I wanted to get a clip from my dash cam and realized that it wasn't recording from the moment I parked in a state park to on my way back home. Unplug the cable and plug it back its back in business. Mine is a Blackvue590X.

Dallas here. I don't know who wins lol.
I'm happy with Nexar cams. Wife uses Rexing, which is also flawless.

I was in Richardson for a year and a half, believe me, H-Town beat us in the "Who has the most idiots on the road" competition lol.

If it were a heavyweight match, id take Dallas 635 vs Houston 610 with Houston winning in the second round via roundhouse kick to the left temple.

OK I think I am going to try to find a piece of L shaped aluminum that is thin enough to bend easily and thin enough that I can pop out a headliner clip and attach the aluminum with the headliner clip popped back in.

    Anyone else done that??lll

Most dash cams you can't even read a license plate in their captured video.

2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
I generally like getting my technology apart from the vehicle. What Toyota is putting in their cars is already old technology by the time it hits the street.

I am about to embark on my third 4Runner front/back dashcam installation. This one is different. I've got the moonroof on an ORP.

I know that my cable is not long enough to drop down to the floorboard. Unless somebody knows of a shortcut I could take.

Stressing out a bit. Running a fish tape on this headliner is a bear. On my 2020 OR, without a moonroof, I had to go section to section and pull the headliner down using a bent coat hanger segment and fishing along the way.

I bought the longer, I think 8m, Viofo A129 Plus Duo cable.

I also have aspirations of putting some lighting in the cargo area headliner. Does anybody have a recommended method of poking holes in the headliner cleanly? I don't like my previous solution, which was using an exacto knife and poking through.
