Just take it out. My 2013 didn't even com with one. At first I thought it was missing, but then I found out the hoods with the fake scoop didn't come with one.

If you DO jus remove it, and notice more engine noise, please reply back here. I hate how much engine noise I can hear in mine, if the hood matt helps, I'd spring for one.

I wonder if that stick on sound insulation material might be a better (cheaper) option? I think I've seen its heat resistant. Not sure if that would be good to negate fire or bad for redirecting heat back into engine bay.
