Pretty sure thats a chipmunk. Mice dont normally go for thick plastic like that but a chipmunk will wear thru it like its nothing. Chipmunks like warm engine bays, like that they can hide stuff in there, and honestly are just curious and want to get into everything.

*Chipmunks, like all rodents, need to constantly chew on things to wear down their ever-growing incisors. They will chew on wood, insulation, plastic, sheetrock, wiring, and anything else they feel like chewing on.*

Here have some chipmunk chewing plastic pictures and tell me this isnt exactly what your cowl looks like.

    LOOOOL
Yes I witness everyday how things are done in NYC, it’s been in the news for years!!!
    It’s a show !

Correct never, advisors and techs get paid the going rates to do quality work.

So you open with greasing someone’s palm. (Call it what you want… $20 cup of coffee is BS)
I’m never charged for Multipoint inspection, you paying for that?
Sounds like you are bribing the service tech, then he’s giving your money to the tech for the multipoint inspection bypassing the normal way business is done.
Charging Toyota for a warranty item that was either a rodent or you neglecting to remove ice (?) and chipping the plastic cowling.
Sounds like a racket you have going on there with your “service advisor”

I help out my mechanic by paying in cash. It saves him the (ahem) credit card fee…

Yes, that is a thing and saves you and your mechanic!

OP is referring to a dealership and shady practices in his own acknowledgment.

There’s nothing shady about it. My original question has been answered and I’m grateful for all the other comments.

Having lived in Maine for most of my entire adult life I’ve experienced periods of a week straight of temps around -20 - -30°F. That’s not ice/cold weather damage.

And I’ve never had any plastic damage due to cold temperatures to any vehicle I’ve ever owned.
