My ladder and shipping was included as well. Like i said before, the wait sucks, but the product is worth it. They need to expand and obviously don't want to add the manpower. 16 weeks....meh, you'll get it in 20-24 weeks.

 

I think I found out why their lead time is so ridiculous! LMAO

It’s the best looking rack, IMO and I really like the functionality of the basket. I’ll be getting one at some point, but won’t expect it to be delivered when they quote (I’m used to this from the custom surfboard market). So long as you like the rack and don’t need it by a certain date, I’m sure you’ll be happy with it.

Just had mine put on a couple of days ago.

Should have done it sooner. I was lucky in that my local offroad shop had two Gobi Stealth's for the Gen 5 in stock and was giving a 30% discount. Its a lot more solid than I expected. So far so good and haven't had any trouble going into any parking garages including my home and work.

this is by far my favorite rack....just so many horror stories on shipping delays and then there's the price....

 

Wish I would have found this site and thread back in February! Was told 12 - 14 weeks. Wasn't happy, but figured it would be worth it.. now, I'm wondering if I'll have the rack before next year!

 

I ordered mine on Jan 10 and I just got the notification yesterday that the rack was built and ready to be shipped. Should be here within 10 days depending on the shipping company's schedule.

All things considered, though, I'm not disappointed with that. I made the order knowing about the outrageously long lead time. I made my order at the very end of their holiday promotional deal which means I'm sure there were a bunch of people ordering in December and the beginning of January who are ahead of me in line. That along with all the covid nonsense makes my 18-19 weeks ordered to (anticipated) delivery not too bad (for Gobi that is.....)

Just my experience, I'll take issue with the "horrible customer service" part. We all know their production time IS horrible, but like I said I went into it knowing that. As far as that customer service goes, I have not had any major issues. The girl who picks up the phone is very polite and helpful. I've had to call several times to add and subtract items from my order (as you can imagine I changed my mind on accessories several times in5 months!) They sent an apology email about delays due to covid.

I'll in all, I'm happy I made the purchase and can't wait for my rack to arrive. Hope this helps OP!

 

@2A4R you are lucky! Ordered mine February 6th.... March 26th got an email about covid19 and production "possibly" slowing down. But assured orders are still in production queue. Hopefully, I get an update soon.. I am in agreement with you, I had an idea production time was long, just wasn't expecting 9 to 12 months... Oh well... it is ordered and I will eventually get it!

 

I have a rack on both Runners. Also have some of their accessories. The racks took awhile but same thing, knew it would take awhile. The accessories ship pretty quickly. I also reached out to them when I broke off the spare tire carrier bolt (forgot the tire was on the roof and tried to drive into the garage DOH!). They got back to me in 3 days and let me buy just the bolt (ended up just using something else though). My experience is great product, good accessories (love the accessories but expensive), OK service, ridiculous lead time on the racks themselves. I am sure it is worst now because of Covid.

I am trying to think back to when we first put it on and what the difference was. I don't think I ever even noticed a difference. The profile is so low (what I love about them)

runner is my wifes and she drives a ton. last thing i want is for her to commute to work with those dreaded whistles

 

I got the same email, they sent it to everyone..you ordered a month after me, so hopefully yours will be ready next month!

 

Do they EVER run discounts at GOBI? I was thinking of waiting until Father's Day (fingers crossed for a sale price)...or am i being unrealistic?

 

Yes, during the holidays, they had a 10% off deal and they also threw in one of their backpacks.

Right now, I believe they are throwing in the bag and also a set of their gas shocks for the rear lift gate which are $125 I believe...so if you were going to get those anyway, it's a $125 discount...I'm sure they'll do small stuff like that here and there

 

Thanks 2A4R! That actually sound pretty good to me...i wasn't planning on getting the gas shocks but they're probably pretty nice. I'm pulling the trigger this evening...Happy Father's Day to me!

I've been pretty happy with Gobi's product and customer support, some things are worth waiting for

Timing is everything good deals going on with backpack and gas struts thrown in, the backpack and travel kits are nice

 

Got an update on my order. 2 day response time for email. Ordered February 19th said it should be done next month. No shop installs for about another month either.
So hopefully it coincides with my rack getting finished and I can have them do the install next month while I’m in Colorado?!
