I caught 2 personal bests in 2 days this week in Florida. A 32" Redfish, and 33" Snook. The Redfish was a stronger fish, but the Snook was fun as well!

Side note: taking a picture of a nice fish on a kayak is not easy!

Yes! Silver King! He danced like a big one too. I hooked up to a big one off Galveston when I was 16 but he broke off after about 45 minutes. Landing one has been one my bucket list since then. Finally did it by accident. I‘ll take it. Hehe

They’re easy pickings in Key West around bridges when tides are moving. You can do it! Go get one!

I made it down to the keys last year. I enjoyed the environment and the fishing immensely. I was going to go again this year but, I had to keep my trip as inexpensive as possible due to spending all of my money on the 4Runner, and beer, and gas, and camping fees.

I have access to a house on a canal that leads right into Pine Island Sound. One of these years, I want to go down there for a week during Tarpon season.

I can understand that. I was planning My bro’s wife was a Navy dentist down there. I caught that off the pier behind his house in the officer housing area on Trumble.
That is nice. I use my vet perks. I was down there from just after Christmas until right after Valentines Day 2019-2020. It was great! I love the vibe and the food is simply amazing. I need some ceviche now.

I have done zero camping and not enough fishing since the toilet paper virus began. I was planning to put my pad on Air BnB and get out of here in April, head north & hit the TAT, spend some time in CO, Moab, visit mom in San Diego and take a different route back home with the plan of getting back here around Thanksgiving, camping and overlanding as much as possible. Not sure how much I will be able to do with gas prices doing what they are. I am still doing it, but might only make it as far as Moab. I am definitely going back there. I went in 2019 and the morning after I arrived I got a work call. Lmao had to hit the road and get back to my shop & make some scratch.

Yes! I was so surprised by how laid back it was there. It's a truly special place. I can't wait to get back there again#

I was on a scout swim team in the Army for 6 years and we spent several weeks a year down there training. Our trips oddly almost always coincided with either fantasy fest in the fall or bike week in the spring when it was cold at Ft Bragg. Hehe “Special” doesn’t do it justice during fantasy fest. It is quite an experience.

    Hmmm....

I wonder if there's a time of year when the women are particularly interested in balding, overweight, Midwestern men...

That's when I need to set up my next trip. :anonymous:

Pretty much always if you leave your glasses at home. Otherwise you just gotta stay semi sober so you are the smart one at closing time. Haha

Edit: reread your post and laughed some more! I figure it deserves at least one more of these -

When I stayed down there, I wound up at a beach pub/restaurant drinking rumrunners and BS'ing with other random people. It was about as much fun as I could take. There was a DJ and girls were dancing. There's nothing more attractive than a girl letting loose and busting a move.

I had so much fun on my trip this year, I wasn't too disappointed about not going to the Keys. But, I will get down there again asap.

My PB, 23", 7#. Caught in a small lake. It's just weird that some of my best fish have come from smaller bodies of water.

It's gut is as big as my head! :D
