    I'll add my experience.

I've driven new and used Toyotas about 1.5 million miles since my first one in 1982. Highest mileage I put on one was my 1988 4Runner with the 22R-E, 305k miles. I've gone over 200k on several of them. I've changed oil and filters early (3k miles) and late (15k miles and more), and in between, and not really religiously. In those miles that I drove, I never experienced an engine failure of any type, nor excessive oil consumption (exception being my 2002 Prizm that had an engine design flaw that showed up regardless of oil change frequency).

So in my case, increasing the frequency of oil/filter changes or changing oil or filter types would yield no noticeable benefit.

Brought my 23 TRD ORP to the Toyota Dealer today (3,050 miles) for its first oil change. $85.

Not always an indicator, but the oil on the dipstick pre-oil change was almost completely transparent still, very light tan color. Although after the oil change, the oil is so light I can barely see it on the dipstick. Wish I would've remembered to bring a collection container with me to have the 1st (break-in) oil sent to Blackstone labs for analysis just for shits and giggles, I didn't think of that until after

This is what we are supposed to use, don't be cheap fks! If you can afford a $50,000 gas guzzler, you can afford this too. And buy top tier gas.

I stick small plastic tube into dipstick tube and drained oil to send to Blackstone lab. Since all 4Runners filled at Tahari plant in Japan, you may expect same result. I ridicule Blackstone for mentioning 5W20 instead 0w20, but all additives are TGMO

Stealerships probably use the cheapest bulk oil available out there, I distrust them so much I wouldn't be surprised if they do a half and half too, half your used oil lol.
I either change the oil myself when the weather allows it, or I go to the local Valvoline Instant Oil Change where I yell at them if they don't do it properly in front of me

No need to yell, ask dealership to be present at time of repair
Valvoline use pretty much the same Mobile 1.

Dealerships, most of them at least, have the stupid appointment BS, for oil change that shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

Update to OP. 2nd Oil change at 1,888 miles. Looks like the break-in has settled down since there is significantly less metal in the canister compared to the first oil change at 700 miles. There was no noticeable wear metal in the filter pleats. Took an oil sample and sent it in for analysis.

It's 20-30 minutes when we do it at home with a cold engine. When driving to jiffy lube/dealership you have to account how hot the oil is.

How do you think they run an operation? Always have a bay and tech ready for the next random person that shows up?

Exactly what I found. 2nd oil change fine metal wise. So I don't get why people will argue tooth and nail that a breakin oil change is unecessary. It's still just an oil change. Better to have the breakin metal gone from your engine be that filter, canister or oil. Us boomers learned this a long time ago. And really don't tell me that was then and this is now.
