I need this! So disappointing that my 20yr E46 has this feature and 5th gen doesn't lol

    How was the install?

Recently completed my C4 bumper w/ high clearance additions. I opted to cut the bumper as close to the additions as possible to avoid adding door molding to give it a cleaner look.

Finally got rid of all the chrome. Added these black door handles covers and also plastic dip around the handle edges. The cover exposes theses areas so I wanted them black.

Added the C4 windshield washer tank skid. I also added a bit of black spray paint on the washer tank to make it blend in.

This is the truck that I wish Toyota would build, but they never will. By the way, it keeps getting better.

When my lower control arms seized up and my shocks blew, I spent close to 7500 bucks redoing the entire suspension lift, CV axles, LCAs on my 2013, so large amounts of money spent are not a stranger to me.

What is the biggest difference (if any) that you notice between the x-reas and the new shocks?

I just got a 2021 limited nightshade and I really wanna add some things to make it look more rugged (nerf bars, a rack/ladder?) but I'm not sure what all I want to do.

If I have to take the x-read out for a lift, then I want to make sure that it's worth it and doesn't affect how smooth it drives.

imho the xreas was smooth like a Cadillac on the highways . but it didn’t absorb big off road bumps well off-road.

The kings are progressive and absorbs bumps very well at different speeds. It has a firmer plant feel while your driving and taking turns.

Swapped out my plastic dipped chrome garnish with the attitude black one. I wanted something with more of a shine as I now have black shined handle covers.

    plastic dipped over chrome

Gonna probably keep the X-REAS because I don't want to mess with a good thing.

I really want to get new tires but the 7in width is bothering me. Did you ever do any research on the best tires for the stock limited wheels?

Leaning towards the ko2's or toyos but not sure they come in that size.

Unless I need to just get new wheels altogether...but I do like the nightshade wheels.

Brother you put together an amazing build and post. I just bought a 2019 Limited for my wife and I’m thinking of doing a few of the mods you posted here. At a minimum I’m thinking Eibach 2.75” Pro truck Lift System with 285/70/R17.
I do have a couple questions since you’ve had the upgrades for a while now:

    1. Have you noticed any negative affects on the full time 4wd system, or on any other components after the lift and larger tires?

    2. Do you still recommend upgrading the UCAs?

    3. Any other recommendations in upgrading parts to avoid expensive repairs later?

    4. For the body changes was it easier/cheaper to have the parts painted and then install them yourself, or take them installed already on the truck to be painted?

    Thank you for your time!

Such a beautiful and bad ass build!

I love that color! Am hoping the new redesigned tundra keeps that color, as I’ll build a Platinum Pro similar to your build to replace my 18 Platinum Tundra that’s been built up a bit (god why oh why do I keep buying black vehicles in Alaska, I’m too OCD for them).

Thanks for the comments. I’m glad I’m able to share my journey

    1. I noticed going with bigger tires really impact your gas mileage. I went from the stock 20” to 285/17/70’s and immediately saw a loss in gas mileage. The bigger tires got me an average of 15mpg. But this was expected from reading others posts.

    2. For me, UCA was needed. Yes I ran with the stock UCA doe a while, but I could not get the right amount of camber. So my fronts stuck out more then they should at the top. after getting the UCA, I was within proper camber.

    3. So far, I haven’t run into any repairs due to the lift. I ran the trd pro lift/Cornfed’s for about a year and now with the kings. The kings feel a lot smoother then the Bilsteins.

    4. for the body parts (bumpers, hood, valance and hood insert), I had all of them painted at a local shop. I then took it all home and installed myself. To me, that’s the cheapest and funnest route.

I believe all shops will paint first and then install. No point of installing twice :)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Maybe I’ll try going with a 275/70/17 to see if that is a little easier to manage based on what you said. Although, it’s hard to get over how sweet 285s look on a 4runner. I forgot to ask, where did you get the folding mirror kit? Ours doesn’t have that feature.

actually 285 was the tire size I had with the pro wheels. Now with scs ray10 I have 295.

As for the the folding mirror kit, I got it from here. I made a diy as well.

Ah ok. So your big drop in MPG was going up to 295 then? Thanks for the product link I’ll check it out for sure.
I also tried searching for an automatic tailgate lift system as my wife is kinda short. If you know of any I’ll check that out as well. Thanks again!

I decided to remove the black smart handle covers in post #187 and opted for the real black smart handles.

the chrome ones I had uses a 6pin connector and the new 2021 black smart handles has only two connectors. What I did was swap out the back side of the handle so I can retain all the original electronics and the 6pin connector (thanks @Old Red for the suggestion). Not only are these handles painted black from Toyota, they are slimmer then the chrome ones I had. They also no longer have a seam.

In 2018, I bought my wife a Limited 4Runner. Fast forward we have a baby now and want more so we're looking to get her a full size SUV, get rid of my 2020 Tacoma this summer, and I'll inherit her '18 limited. SOOOOOO naturally, I started looking around to see how to make it cooler. It would seem you have won the internet on how to convert a limited 4runner into a badass 4runner, inside and out. I want to start with the front and rear bumpers/fascia and the rockers.

Do you have a parts list? I'm somewhat handy but not in any way handy with vehicle mods but I have a lot of time before I actually do this to research and gather parts...

yes it’s all plug and play and most of all its a great adventure transforming your own rig. Here’s the parts list for each area. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just two rookie questions to start @Daytonaviolet

    1. Are there any videos or visual aids to start taking the bumpers apart? That seems to be the main hurdle in my head - how to pull it all apart
    2. What tools are required? Anything special?
