Coolant leak?

It might not actively leak while engine is cold but clearly leaks and Evaporates when running and hot. It's funny how Service is a double face when it comes to repair under warranty vs on your dime. I had some residue near weep hole of water pump on my 2004 (out warranty) and was told I need new water pump. Once they agree to replace it under warranty ask for invoice copy but use different dealer. Trust me, you don't want to piss off the cook and then have him make your dinner.

 

I’ve seen lots of leaks (especially oil leaks) that only manifest themselves as the vehicles cools after driving. Won’t leak during active operation or sitting cold. It has to do with metal and gaskets expanding and contracting through heat ranges.

wait till summer time, when the temps will hit high 90s, it will be even more fun.
shit like this makes me wanna bite the bullet and just buy a tesla - other issues, but at least no more leaks and no more oil changes or transmission maintenance or hydraulic steering (i hate it)

Somewhere is the repair manual I saw a description of leak versus weep. With a leak there’s an active flow and a drop of fluid can be seen dangling off the part. A weep shows evidence of wetness around a joint but no active flow.
Toyota doesn’t generally consider a weep to be a problem.

 

Thats how it was explained to me too. That’s why it’s important to take pictures before touching or cleaning an area of concern.

My 12’ Sequoia had the infamous cam tower leaks. I took good pictures and that helped secure a warranty repair.

 

Now you've learned to take a squirt bottle with some coolant with you and squirt that spot before the tech looks at it.

 

I bought MY FIRST GM vehicles in 1967 olds 442.. then I dumped GM in 2007 ..I bought toyota vehicles.. no issues ..GM manufactured CCP in chinass.. the parts fail and I am on GM forums and engine/transmission/wiring failures NEW GM ....THEY PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ...
