Hi there, fairly new to the Forum. I was reading your info about the Trail Edition. I recently purchased a 2014 Trail and was curious where it stood in comparison of the TRD and other models.

It's all good info you provided and I appreciate it.

    Thanks

Previous Trail is the same as current TRD Off Road. Future (2021) Trail will be a dressed up SR5 with none of the off road features found on the current Off Road / previous Trail.

Let us all now take a moment of silence that was the easy lineage between the different set-ups of the past T4R. The 2021 trail will forever screw up how people understand what they are getting. They are setting a new base MSRP & acting like you bought a higher model.
*Note* I mean no disrespect to SR5 owners. I guarantee most of you could out drive me even using my "electronic cheats"
The locker may be a deal breaker 10% of the time...

Agreed. I think it’s a deliberate marketing conflation by Toyota to dupe buyers into getting the “Trail Edition,” when it’s really just a dressed up SR5.

And it’s confusing as hell to explain.

@will van - based on your current .sig, it looks like you found a `19 ORP.
Last I read above you were about ready to make the call on a Nautical Blue `20 ORP back in Aug.
    Let's hear about it!

I'll say this. Those pictures don't tell the whole story on colors in person. If you like DARK blue than midnight black (in sunlight) is more blue than you'd think. The nautical blue is much darker in person than in pics, actually looks black in certain lighting. That red is lipstick bright and the silver is meh.

I just had my KO2s installed at the dealership last weekend, 275/70/r17. The service dude says to me "you know those are gonna rub right". I said "not on the Pro kid, we have a factory lift which clears nicely, also had the same set-up on my 18 pro 4r". crickets....

Asking people to tell you how to spend your money? o_O

Why not just wait until the 6th gen comes out in 2022. Not that far off. Then you can get a better deal on 5th gen, or go latest and greatest with a 6th gen hybrid.

Because Toyota should have included a S/C from the factory...
All levels should have touch-entry, better headlights & memory seats (it is 2010+).
After 1.5 yrs with one my list is kinda short. I think it is an excellent platform.
    No deal breakers.

I agree that toyota has fallen way behind other manufacturers when it comes to interior design. I hope the 6th gen has some well thought out design on the inside.

I find it hilarious that people (we) have to pay more to have less. Why does a simple, back to the basics old reliable truck cost more? Because nobody else makes one and Toyota has a monopoly lol.

    Super Charger...
It is my wife's daily and I am 6'4. It annoys her more.
Yes, I will be doing the H9 mod but we usually don't leave after dark. I am putting a LED bar behind the grill for extra light while off road.

We are getting off topic here but my wife daily drove my Super Duty & even towed our '94 Ram on a trailer with it. She like big vehicles but misses her G35xs.
I do have the LED fogs & they make it much more drivable for $125. I will do the H9 this fall for winter. Really want to see if the 2021 LED headlights will be plug & play also...

Read an article recently that said many auto manufacturers are moving away from fog lights as it's been proven they don't do a thing. But I like to replace with brighter lights so I hope they keep them in.

Sorry, I haven't checked on this thread in a while. It kinda got hijacked anyway. Yes, I purchased a gently-used 2019 Barcelona Red TRD ORP after trading in my Tacoma. You read more about it here.

    I was being tongue-in-cheek.

Congratulations & sorry for the :threadjacked: we get carried away sometimes. This T4R is a passion & it is addictive. There is all good information I hope! Not trying to fill it with B.S.

Nice. Does the blacked out badging from factory like that, or is that dealership mod?

Not sure what the purpose of this thread is, at the moment. But, here's my 5th get looking naked with the sliders pulled off for maintenance.

My original plan was to pull them off every year to touch them up. But, this is the first time they've been off. I think I might start taking them off every winter.:)

I wanted a little (but got a lot!) more room and a little more pep so swapped beloved 4Runner for a Expedition EL Limited. From the moment I drove off the dealer lot I had, and still have, zero regrets. Having said that, all that I did to my 4Runner was to prep it for a MOAB trip but time & events caught up to me making the planned trip very unlikely. The only mods done to date on the Expedition are a Pedal Commander and upgraded head lamps. Coupling a Pedal Commander to the 3.5 Eco-Boost makes an incredible difference in the twin turbo performance (no more mid range bog). I truly liked the 4Runner but don't miss it.
