Means I'm not willing to pay what they're asking. If that means I don't buy one right now then it is what it is. Eventually something will come thru.

You won't regret the 2WD if you're not planning on driving on the beach or serious off road use. The 2WD SR5 is 250 pounds lighter than its 4x4 counterpart and over 400 pounds lighter than the full-time 4WD Limited. Plus there's the AUTO-LSD for the rear wheels in tricky situations.

    Good luck with your search.

My initial offer was about $51k OTD 8% off giver take. I know times are different than pandemic but I just thought it was a good starting point. My final was $52,500. If they wanna sell it then that's great if they don't then that's fine.

Congrats that's awesome! I'm in no rush. I'm sure they have people that's willing to offer more than me and that's fine. I'm not a "payment" buyer. I think 7 out of 10 dealers have tried to get me to throw out a payment #.. I'm like ok 200/month with zero down for 36 months (joking) lol. Im fine with waiting it out if that's what it takes.

Do some research on the use / sales tax for Texas. Texas has a 6.25% sales tax on autos that you will pay no matter where you purchased it and I believe you still get credit for what you paid in another state. Just don’t assume the tax you would pay in AZ is lost or less. You would also need to check with AZ for a refund that can then be paid to TX if you don’t want to go the tax credit route.

For the running boards that is a Toyota distubtror option for most of the US. Gulf State Toyota (GST) is the distributor for Texas and they don’t offer it I believe.

In reference to the CPO from an auction it will most likely have a title. Another dealer dumped it to make some quick cash or there is some repaired damage on it that would cause issues on a new sale for the original dealer

Yes, I checked with my local DMV here in TX and they said they would credit me (with the correct paperwork) for the taxes paid in AZ. However the difference between AZ and TX was more in AZ and TX would only credit me up to the amount I owed here in TX

I see. Call AZ DMV and ask them if you can get a credit if you show prof you’re a TX resident and will not be living in AZ. Don’t believe anything the dealer says. It’s very rare to find a employee at a dealership that can be trusted or really even knows how the laws work or care to know how it works.

looks like AZ has something for out of state residents but you would need to contact them to verify if you can qualify.

Good point. That's my next move. I sold at Toyota in DFW and I met a guy name cliff that was nice. I think he was the rep for Gulf States region. It sucked trying to deal with people like me lol which I thought was rare but come to find out I'm like most people. The ones that just sign away are few in between least at the store I was at

Yeah this is directly from their form and what my DMV was basically saying

Nonresidents from CA, CT, FL, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MI, MN, NV, NJ, OH, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT,
and WA: Because these states have higher tax rates than Arizona’s 5.6% transaction privilege tax rate, motor
vehicle sales to nonresidents from these states are subject to Arizona taxes if the nonresident purchaser takes
possession of the vehicle in Arizona. These states will allow a credit against their state taxes for the state transaction
privilege tax paid in Arizona, when the nonresident registers the vehicle in his or her home state.

Yeah I agree of course I know I'm asking a lot when other dealers are trying to sell at msrp plus adds. Call it me trying to stand up for the consumer and end the days of paying msrp lol

Dealers are offering cars above MSRP or bloated with extras because there are buyers for them.

    I see a few possibilities.
    • Toyota may slow production of the 5th Gen in the coming months so as to avoid having leftovers when the 6th Gen comes out.
    • Toyota may cease production of 2WD models altogether because they’re harder to sell.
    • There may be a rush to buy 5th Gens before the 6th Gen comes out.
In any case, you’re rolling the dice to think that the market will be such that you can dictate terms on a new 5th Gen ever again.
    • If the 6th Gen is poorly received, the price of used 5th gens is likely to remain high.
    • If the 6th Gen is well received, then maybe there will be a glut of used 5th Gens that can be bought at a more reasonable price.

I can't imagine RWD 4Runners are so much in demand that dealers aren't willing to deal. It makes no sense. You'd think they would have jumped on the OP's offer, just to get it off the lot.
