Bug Deflector

Mine came today and I installed it. Over most of the length, the deflector was clear of that piece. However, there was a little bit of contact on the driver's side. Pressing and re-tightening screws helped a little, but didn't totally fix it. A search turned up a solution that seems to have done the trick: I adjusted the hood bumper cushion on that side by half a turn and it cleared all the way across. It didn't change anything noticeable about the hood, like creating a visible gap or making anything uneven. It was just a little tweak.

 

$129...thats a pricey piece of plastic! Paid $65 for my AVS Bugflector II at Auto Zone

I’ve long suspected AVS II and weathertech deflectors are the same thing. Don’t know for sure but they’re identical.

100% agree with this poster. Bugs still splatter and I have rock chips in the windshield

 

I have tried 4 to find one that works for bugs. AVS 1 worked better than AVS 2 or either Weathertech. Can't do much to protect a refrigerator, but it worked best for bugs. Chips happened with all of them. There is probably a better one. I just couldn't afford anymore. The Weathertech that sticks to front of hood just bumped rocks farther back in hood. This doesn't wrap the edges like the AVS 2 but it works

 

Windshield is $50 deductible. Nothing keeps rocks off except falling back more. I have one chip in windshield. You can't get them all. I'm going to try RainX repair for it so it doesn't get worse. The Toyota touch up paint sucks.

 

Am I seeing this right?? The AVS "Aeroskin" actually adheres to the TOP of the hood?

As opposed to the Bugflector II which attaches to the underlip of the hood, and is molded to stand 1" away from the hood. The Aeroskin looks like its physically TAPED to the top of the hood. I like the way it looks, but I have an issue with that.
