No light pipe on that config Bi-LED projector, side specific low beam reflector High beam assist reflector hybrid optical unit. I will use application optimized optics combination for future models, more to come, stay tuned for 2025 excited to introduce many more models.

Are these at a point yet where they surpass OEM reliability? I know the DRL LED's in the older morimotos were known for going out pretty quickly.

Has anyone had any of the crazy issues like what the 1st gen caused with weird electrical items from the add a fuse?

The initial error and reject rate of the XB Evo line shows a remarkable 300% improvement compared to the XB 2.0. However, it's important to note that aftermarket lamps will never be as reliable as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) lamps. This is a realistic truth that we must accept. It is unreasonable to expect the same level of reliability from aftermarket lamps that offer additional features, design elements that excite users, and personalization options that OEMs may not have able to pursue and included. OEM designs focus on cost and reliability optimization by minimizing the number of components, packing excitement is not their priority focus. And such excitement priority is where aftermarket lamp ventures. Difference in product concept.

There are some other challenges at the component sourcing level as well. The heirloom-class BIN is typically reserved for the largest customers, such as tier 1 manufacturers, and is protected by its massive minimum order quantities (MOQs). Niche-targeted aftermarket manufacturers tend to struggle to break through this barrier without transferring unreasonable costs to product pricing. However, we have worked hard to obtain as many core component parts from the desired BIN as possible while keeping costs reasonable. In the previous generation of lamps, I did not have such control over sourcing. But with the Evo lineup, we took full charge of sourcing the best available and feasible parts while optimizing the process for an exciting aftermarket lamp design. I won’t set expectations falsely high; it still won’t be as reliable as the original equipment (OE) lamp. However, I can confidently say that the reliability improvement over the previous generation is significant. This was also the reason we established an entirely new production line for XB Evo, and The XB Evo does not inherit any shortcomings from the XB 2.0

I love that. The trade in program should reopen for folks with xb gen 2 if they want to get the evo's... I'm looking to upgrade to Evos for the higher output but the cost is holding me back.

I know that Morimoto really started tightening the belt on the trade-up program in the middle of summer '24. They've never had a trade-in program for any aftermarket lamps though, just OEM ones. They had a network of body shops that were buying them for repairs, I believe.

Yeah i dont think it be more than $200 but itll definitely sting less.. I'm looking around seems the market is maybe $400-500 for used xb gen2's

Wouldn't these considered OEM ;) but i understand what you mean.

I've decided to bite the bullet and order these even though I'm a bit concerned about the add a fuse. I know it caused issues with the previous generation of lights. If anyone has the superchargers do they just make the hi beam brighter or do they make all of the lights including the DRL brighter? Now I will need to figure out what to with my OEM LEDs lol.

    Thanks!

Super Charger driver makes Low Beam and High beam driver rate go up. As a result, it put high beam beam center intensity above regulation limit. This is the main reason why SC driver is labeled as none-compliance. But for low beam, even it push several test points nearly upper most allowance level, they still remain under allowance limit of LB2V low beam regulation. 2" down @25' is essential aim with SC driver. If any lift, fitted larger tires, 3' down is essential. DRL does not change its output by SC driver.

I don't use any of the recommended spots in the engine bay fuse box. I run an add a fuse from the cabin fuse box on the cig lighter/radio accessories location, out to the engine bay to a relay so the wire is basically a trigger rather supplying actual current. This allows me to also run the backlighting on my diode dynamics pods without much hassle.

Hopefully Yoshi answered your question properly, but easy answer is that low and high beam are the only things impacted. The container that just showed up yesterday is all allocated, but we currently have 6 sets without a name on them from the shipment set to deliver around 1/21 over here at Hotshot Offroad. Hopefully we can help ya out!

I've got a mountain of those. We can get you a set of superchargers no problem if you want to add them

It's not chrome. It's a Titanium. The Hybrid models has piano black.

Ok so the regular more expensive evo? Chrome, titanium whatever you wanna call it. Do they plan on making it in ALL glossy black inside the housing?

XB Evo is full feature model( more expensive) with dark titanium shroud inside. XB Evo Hybrid is base model which is just black plastic shrouds in side. No plan for XB Evo ( full feature model) to have all black. All black makes entire headlamp detail sink in, to enhance component visual dimensional strength, dark titanium was given to only XB Evo For visual distinction purpose, Hybrid model was diluted to just have black plastic shroud

I ordered a set of Evos last week for our 2020. We will remove the current XB Gen 2's from it and put them on our sons 2016. Now I wait for the Tundra release...can't wait to see what improvements they will have.

That's the batch that I'm in as well. We have the Gen 2's on the wife's 2020. We are putting the Evos on it and moving the Gen 2's to our sons 2016 to replace the halogens. I have Gen 2's on my Tundra and can't wait to see what the Evos for it will look like.

Sucks that the superchargers aren't street legal though. I may try them on the Tundra if it's an option since the Tundra has the adjustable headlight height.
