Honestly yes...the northeast in the NYC area, northern Jersey, and the entire tri-state area is eerily quiet. I have never been able to breeze into to work and he’ll yet let alone an entire week! Infections are spreading like a wave here. PLEASE don’t interpret that last statement as fear or panic...at least in my mind because I was expecting this once it hit NYC. The majority of people are getting better but it’s going to take time to get everyone back to work in some areas. Based on what I am seeing in my area I don’t know how it WON’T effect the whole country.

Any noticeable difference in driving with the spacers? I see a lot of people using the spacer for the 1.75 lift

The only benchmark I had was driving stock, then I went to this. It was a dramatic improvement in every way to the stock suspension but I attribute that to the 5100’s . Sway and nosedive were lessened dramatically, and the truck had a much more sportier feel to it. I don’t think the spacers affected it much, but again I never took it off-road so never had a chance to bottom it out. Currently I am back at the 0 setting with a Toytec 3/2 lift. I think I preferred the initial 1.75”/spacer setup, at least from a drive ability perspective.

Also make sure that if you order the spacers, that the company makes the drivers side one a tad thicker to account for drivers side lean(fuel tank/driver weight) . I ordered mine from Cornfed, and I think they do that regardless but I would always double-check with whoever it is to make sure.

i was looking at my front bilsteins the other day and they are looking pretty rough, rust wise...i am in a 2012 TE at around 67k. the original owner had them installed, but i dont know when...ill get some pics shortly, but am in the range of replacing? when i was getting my rear brakes done the mechanic said the rears looked good and they could go for maybe 60k more...that didnt seem right, but i know very little about this stuff :/

Thank you for putting all of this together! I agree that this is the perfect look for our 4R. Too much lift looks funky imho.

I would say that a Bilstein is a 100k mile shock...... unless we're talking about extreme driving conditions.

They will definitely accumulate some rust on the outer shock body so that's normal.

If they still ride good, I would keep them. When you start noticing the ride deteriorate, it's time to replace.

thank you for the info! my quandry is that they were on when i bought it (about 55k miles) so im not sure of the difference in the ride. to me, i dont think that the ride is different from when i got it, but there is still a good amount of nose dive. also there has been a strange metal on metal sound occasionally coming from the drivers side front when i go over even small speed bumps at slow speed so i am getting a little worried.

here is a pic of drivers side front, which may or may not be helpful haha

That kind of surface rust isn't anything to worry about. That's pretty normal for a shock body over time. What's more important is how the shock shaft looks (which we can't see in the picture). If it's rusted, then you have a problem. It should still be fairly shiny and in good condition.

However, the fact that you're getting a good amount of nose dive and have a metal on metal sound might be an indication you need new shocks.

I would hate to steer you in the wrong direction and have you buy new shocks and still have those same symptoms, but to me.......it sounds like you might need a new set. If you can try and identify where that metal to metal sound is coming from, that would tell us more.

Also, check for any oil leaking around the area where the shock shaft goes into the shock body . That would tell us if you potentially have a blown shock.

The link above is where I got most of those. You could look through that to find the 4R in question.

Did anyone have any dash light come on after the install of the 5100's? My slip indicator lights is solid with multi terrain blinking. I have not done an alignment yet. Would that be the issue?

No, you might have stretched out the ABS sensor cable. I don't know exactly if they are one in the same with the multi-terrain sensors, but they might be. That's the first place I would check as it happens to some people right after they put a lift on.

Thanks for the response Nimby. You think even if I don't have the ABS light on it can be the cable? Also want to see if Zero Point Calibration needs to be done after the alignment.

I would think the ABS light would be on too. When people report this kind of thing happening, they often report multiple dash lights on.

Yours just being the slip and multi-terrain is a little strange.

    But I wouldn't think it's alignment related.

    It sounds sensor related.
