Tundra is still made in Texas.

Some Tacos were still made there until a few years back when a new plant in Mexico went online and after that all Tacos have been mexican made.

That being said, since then Taco prices still went up, and people kept buying.

Has cheaper labor in Mexico, China and Canada(yes that's why Ontario's auto industry exists) kept car prices low?

Just learn to finance cars for longer terms. Rising prices far outpacing inflation haven't stopped people so far.

Are we driving American cars? I don’t. Mine are made in Germany or Japan. So I don’t really care. And to answer your question, no. It juts increased their profit. Car prices are very far from low.

People have put up with rapidly rising car prices without tariff so far. Clearly they can tolerate a lot before exercising fiscal prudence.

I recently bought a MY 25 economy car to replace a 20 year car I'm giving to my kid. Car salesman tells me no one wants a sub-20k car, but no shortage of people there to stretch financing for 50k+ crossovers to drive to work.

4runners themselves are from Japan, yes, but Toyota parts are made in multiple places/countries. I don't know what parts are from what countries specifically, but the potential exists for some parts to be affected. Time will tell.

Maybe Mexico and Canada will cave like Columbia did.

I didn't hear about Columbia. No coffee tariff I assume?

Columbia wouldn't let the illegal immigrants land that were being deported, the president slapped a 25% tariff on their goods. Columbia is now allowing the planes to land and also sending their planes to pick up the illegal immigrants.

Just did some reading. I was thinking about loading up on coffee ahead of any tariff but as you note, it never went into effect. Apparently the coffee markets are all in a tizzy regardless. I also see that prices are expected to rise independent of the presidents actions. So I might still do it if they haven't already been marked up this weekend by the opportunistic.

To be fair, one of Columbias #1 caveat to accepting planes was that zero Columbians were to be handcuffed or shackled. When they found out they were in fact shackled, they turned the planes away. More of a "come at me correct next time".

It’s so cute you guys are talking 4Runner parts.

I just cleaned out Costco of their avocados and Canadian maple syrup.

Interesting, more proof that the msm can't be trusted to tell the entire story.
