Yum! How do you make yours?

I was using it for white Russians. I might try making some Cosmopolitans one of these weekends.

 

Yes sir twas good

2 teaspoons simple syrup
1 teaspoon water
3 dashes bitters
2-4 lrg cup ice cubes
1.5 ounce bourbon whiskey
1 slice orange
or
Maraschino cherry if I'm lucky, have not come across in stores yet.in Vancouver

That sucks about the cherries. Maybe someone can mail you some.

Yours sounds more like the traditional old fashioned. I grew up on Wisconsin style old fashioneds, with muddled fruit and soda. It probably seems like blasphemy to people from out of the region, but I think they're fantastic!

I might have to try your recipe. I'm also interested in that mule type drink you mentioned. I'll have to look for the Tequila you use when I'm in Florida in a few months. There's a great liquor store on Pine Island that might have some of the stuff I can't find here.

I got in a tequila drinking contest with a guy the night after I checked into Yuma MCAS. I remember seeing him go under the table, and when I woke up the next morning, I was in the orange grove across from the base. I looked over, and thought I was going to have to chew my arm off to get away without waking it up. I THINK it was a she, but I wasn't certain. I got away without waking her up, and made it to the front gate into the base. I told the MP's not to let it on the base no matter what, threw up on their little guard shack, and made it back to the barracks.

Never touched tequila again! Never went back to that bar, either, until it burned down, come to think of it...
Needless to say, the MP's weren't real happy with me from then on, come to think of it.

I'll say that my first tequila experience wasn't great, either. Shots of Cuervo on my 21st birthday, among other things. I thought I hated tequila for years before I finally tried some good stuff.

 

Been there done that, i just wish my budget would allow me to have some of the products that a guy a girl and a trail experience. I love the blind testing that they do, and hey, im jelly as hell at the rack they have against the wall. I may or may not have gotten a bit of a woody over that. I definitely will be following these updates.

 

Ok, i live in kind of in a rural area, but i go down the hill frequently to like Total wine and stuff. I mean we have stores, and several liquor stores but they don’t have what i need, so today i went down the hill to a liquor store that had what i need, and more. This store has so many different Tequilas i was like a kid in a candy store. It was very hard to make a decision on what to get, so i settled on these three. And just fyi Total Wine in my area does not have any of these so? Trust me these are not break the bank Tequilas, but they are some that i have not experienced before so we will see how it goes. To honest about it, i probably would not have tried these without the knowledge and advice from A guy a girl and a Trail, so thanks to them.
Oh yeah, i had to drive an hour to this store, but i am impressed for sure.

 

Did not make it to the store today, So tonight shows no knew Bourbons in the cabinet to try. Will be some Elijah Craig and wrap up the night with some Jim Beam like the plebeian that I am.

 

Way late on the advice but pouring it through a coffee filter will salvage the hooch. It can be cumbersome but slowly pouring from the broken bottle into another bottle or measuring cup, and then through a coffee filter into the next bottle will be safe to drink

 

I have used this method, and was a happy camper.

 

I may/will do that as It has I have that joker still sitting on the counter feeling sorry over it. The break looked clean, Just added a pic thinking I will be good.

 

@RumHamRunner73 I wouldnt drink it without filtering, no matter how clean, but yeah I'd for sure pour that off and run it through a coffee filter

 

The wife is filtering it as we speak right now Will post actual results after double filtering to add some excitement to the evening activities.

 

Wanted to check in and report that we are all good. Was able to save the remainder after filtering. Thanks for the support!

You finally found a Fortaleza!

 

A few new additions.

We had the owner of a liquor store over for a tequila tasting, he brought us the Fortaleza blanco as a gift. We got another Cascahuin 11 Brix (NOM 1123 limited release), Cascahuin Siete Veces Diez (NOM 1123 limited release) Montagave Anejo (NOM 1123 limited release) - we actually got 2 of these, and a Terralta Reposado (NOM 1579).

Our inventory is up to 209 bottles of tequila.

 

Yes, i wanted the Reposado, but the only way they would sell it was as a bundle with 2 other brand bottles. If you get a chance check this place out.

 

Looks like a good score! I got the Don Fulano Añejo, and the Blanco, and both are excellent! I'm thinking you'll love that Reposado.

Is "Russian Standard" the actual brand? I don't drink much vodka, and usually only in mixers. I wouldn't mind having a bottle of something really nice in my collection.

I'm about to check that place out!
