Remove the fuel pump fuse or put a photo of your mother in law under the windshield.

I think in areas where vehicle theft is a profession, it’s a thing. Your standard dumb drug addicted thief, naw.

Or here is novel idea. Rent a car and leave the 4Runner home. Problem solved

I have a better idea - I cancelled the hotel stay.

When I drove 1,400 miles with a Uhaul carrying everything I owned, including the 4runner on a car carrier, I chained the 4Runner to the car carried, using a heavy lock. Chained car carrier to Uhaul. Removed fuel pump relay from both vehicles and took them into the hotel. Parked where no one could easily pull the Uhaul or 4Runner out. Used a Club on Uhaul and 4Runner. Silly overkill? Maybe.

I now live in an apartment style retirement community where there are no garages. It is lighted with cameras.

I have a Ravelco and an OBD port lock. Ravelco is not cheap but I think better than a kill switch. If the hidden location is found, unlike a switch, you still need the plug. Of course either can be defeated with the right knowledge and equipment, but I consider it unlikely a thief is going to show up with such.

I just would be nervous screwing around with the wiring on these. I’ve read posts time and again of people installing lights, different bulbs, remote starters etc and then that seems to introduce of slew of problems. That’s just me though I’d prefer to leave the electrical the way it is.

I had the Ravelco installed by them and it has a lifetime warranty. Had it about a year and no problems.

My daughter had her Rubicon stolen not long ago. They apparently easily popped the Club off of the steering wheel without damaging either.

For my 4R, while I do have a Club, I also have a simple kill switch installed that disconnects power to the starter relay.

My Sprint Booster has a "Pedal Lock" mode. The truck will idle but the gas pedal won't work.
