They blink to show the seconds.
I took the dash apart yesterday to actually remove the accessory display while working on something, they always blinked.

I know Old Red doesn't like to be asked when the harnesses will be available again, and Im not asking him... I am asking the universe to align the planets so that when I refresh the harness request form page 20x a day, every day since early December, that ONCE it comes up with the order form so I can smash down the buy button...lol.

    Read post #30
    From Old Red himself

Mainly the idea of getting the right STAMP on your unit
    Believe yours is “F”

    happy hunting
N they do exist for much cheaper eBay

found that when I was searching for my orange one on dealership sites, I couldn’t verify the stamp

eBay n online auto/wreck shops least had pics of the ACTUAL unit you’d be ordering

I believe the request form opens on the 17th - checking his Instagram account is the easiest way to stay on top of what he is developing, and when he will be releasing items.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
After reading through 9 thousand pages in this thread; and remembering almost none of it...

Someone remind me; can I buy this directly from Toyota/Dealership and have it installed by them in my 2023 4runner?

I Googled the part number and the dealerships price them between $325 - 400. I'm sure if I searched harder I could find it cheaper, but it may not be a new part. I'm okay with paying that much, but I want to know:

    1) Will this work in a 2023?
    2) Is it easy to install or could/would a dealership do that?

I'm not asking about the cost of the Toyota part. I'm asking about the cost of the harness that Old Red makes.

I did it on my 2022 without any issues. Old Red would be the best person to confirm if it will work with 23.
I did it myself. About an hour or 2 going slowly. The PDF he sends with instructions is very easy to follow.

Did the dash disassembly video @Old Red was going to make ever come to pass?

No forum updates other than its been started, but life priorities have interrupted completion that I can find. If you order one there is a comment/question section on the form to ask him directly. Had a question myself, and he responded within an hour. Probably the best way to get your answer.

While a video would be the bees knees, its surprisingly easy to disassemble the dash. If you've ever installed an aftermarket stereo in just about anything, this will likely be easier.

From what I've read, the instructions are very detailed and easy to follow, so it should go well. I'm going to begin the search for a source for a new display.

@KA1OTE - I realize you haven't been on the forum since July of 2023, but if you poke your head back in to 4runners.com I'd like to thank you for the post above. I did the same nationwide search for a new AMD from a Toyota parts dealer, and pretty much found pricing and shipping costs all over the map. I even had gone ahead and placed an order for one from a dealer with the best price. I subsequently found this post of yours, and went to the Lewis Toyota of Topeka site, and you were right! Not only did they have one of the lowest prices I had found for the AMD, with free shipping, but added an additional discount on top of that! I canceled the original order with the other dealer and promptly ordered from Lewis Toyota. Again, thanks for putting me on to them.

Also, if you do come on here, what was the final result? I did not find a followup to you receiving the harness and ordering the AMD...

What price did you get for the AMD from them?

I got the form filled out for the harness yesterday. Can’t wait to get it!

I went to the online Toyota parts network. Try Bama but from my local dealer it was $339.02. Bama lists it for 393.67.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up ordering from Lewis Toyota of Topeka. Had one of my local dealerships had it for the price you quoted from your local dealer, which I would bet money they wouldn't have, but should have checked, with local tax it would have been the same as what I paid Lewis with no tax and free shipping.

Lewis had it listed for $402 but discounted it about $40 off of that, with free shipping.

Do you have to fill out your contact info for Lewis for them to give you a quote?
