    I do agree that a regear is very beneficial, especially since I think the gearing is a bit high from stock.

    But, I'd say that a 10% increase in torque at low RPM's sounds pretty awesome, too.

    All of these things have their purpose.

    That's fine.

    But, I know a number of people who have tuned Tacomas, and they generally seem beyond satisfied. It's not just about the power increase, I believe some actually improve the shift logic, which was a huge deal when the 3rd gen Tacos came out.

    I haven't experienced a tuned 4Runner, but a few hundred bucks for a real increase in power (however modest) seems like a way better deal than some "cold air" intakes, and other things people spend money on.

    At the end of the day, I don't think anything is really a waste of money, unless the buyer isn't satisfied.

    There's three threads from company's offering tunes. There is no negative reviews. Whys that? There's also multiple members who are regeared AND running tunes. Once again no negitive reviews.

    So now we have Pedal Commander vs. Tune vs. Regear.

    I’ll say this, if you really want to improve your vehicle as you add weight and larger tires, the tune and regear are way more beneficial vs a throttle controller. A regear is $2000-5000 depending on what you’re doing and how you’re doing it (who’s doing it, adding lockers, etc..) a naturally aspirated tune is $600-$650 at the top end. What people forget, or don’t understand, is that shift scheduling is programmed to match gears, so adding gears and not correcting your shift scheduling is only a “partial” fix. Also, depending on the gears you choose, you will run into global speed limiters and not be able to go over 80-85 mph. Therefore, the ultimate fix is an “AND” situation, not an “or”. Tune and regear.

    Now having said that, the current tuning software doesn’t have all the capabilities needed to do adjust for gears and shift scheduling on all T4R’s, so the ultimate solution isn’t available to everyone. However, this functionality will be added soon I hear.

    Some will ask why not combine throttle controller, tune, and gears? That can be done also, but not typically recommended. Why? Throttle position/voltage is a variable used in shift scheduling. If you are constantly changing your throttle controller settings, it will confuse your shift scheduling and your vehicle will shift/behave erratically.

    No tuner in their right mind should be bragging about adding 10-20 HP/TQ. What the dyno data on Naturally Aspirated Toyotas shows is that you can address the driveability issues (laggy throttle, erratic shifting, etc…) AND keep equal or better HP/TQ vs the stock calibration. In my testing, there are tunes that address driveability but can’t make equal or better HP/TQ vs the stock calibration. If a tune you are looking at doesn’t have dyno data validating it is equal or better than stock, be warned.

    Unless you add forced induction, you’re not going to add significant power to these trucks. CAI’s and exhaust also do nothing for the naturally aspirated engines in our testing, yet people dump $300+ on a CAI and $700+ on exhaust for noise. But yeah, $600 for a tune that actually makes a little power and addresses other issues is too much…

If you weren't so combative, you'd see that my questions about the tune aligned with your opinion - I was questioning the cost vs. the hp/tq gain. And doing it respectfully to those in the thread. Then you came in and for no reason, in post #48, acting like a jerk. Up to that point the discussion was going just fine with everyone debating the pros/cons. So once again you've derailed another thread with your BS.
