With 35,000 miles and 8 months of experience under my belt, I can say that you got the best 4Runner trim. A-Trac hasn't disappointed me, NOT EVEN ONCE. And I have been to a lot of places, including ORV parks where most of the vehicles are Jeeps. Good beefy aired down tires, 4Lo and A-Trac are all most of us need. Good tires are extremely important, that one tire that has traction has to be a beefy tire for A-Trac to work smoothly

2" lift. Flex on the ramp is different than flex in the real world. In the real world it takes a hair for you to lose traction.

I ask about the lift height because it reminds me of when I had too much preload on my "Extended Travel" IMS coilovers and was sitting at 4" of lift height.

Safe lift height with those coils is 3.5" according to Exit Off Road. 4" looked great and was okay on road. But off road it was terrible. I had almost no down travel.

Here's a video with the front set at 4" of lift height.
Still had the sway bar connected as well.
    Front's would not budge.

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jHKEOGfsThg

Here's some articulation at 3" of lift height with the same Dobinsons Extended travel setup. No front sway bar.
Still nothing compared to SFA... But better than it used to be.

Good to know. I’m a SR5 owner too. I’m curious, do you have buyers remorse with the front locker?

Going up hill is already unloading the front suspension as well so maybe that's why it looked like you had no droop left.

Thanks! Still trying to learn this platform and squeeze everything I can out of it.

I did 4.88, and the guy gave the front locker to me at 30% discount, so I said why not. For $700 only I got a front locker.

That sounds good to me. I’m sure the 4.88’s really improve the crawl capability.

Don't be jerks on the trail, we're all fellow wheelers. When you see a Jeep or any other 4x4, try to learn about the rig. As much as I hate the Bronco, I would love to encounter one on the trail and see how it does lol.

Every Wrangler I've driven had loose steering and driving on them on the road was a chore. They needed constant steering input, which took effort to provide since there was more than 30 degrees of free play in the steering wheel. It was like wrestling an alligator to go in a straight line down a paved highway.

There is a reason why Toyota puts out so many IFS offroaders and ignores the demands of enthusiasts who want a little Jeep fighter. Toyota goes for the majority of buyers and not the few enthusiasts. The mojority of us value comfort. 4Runner DID NOT fail against the Wrangler in this video, Wrangler just did it better and beautifully. Now let's see if that that Wrangler can do 70 mph on curvy highways like my KDSS does.

The Bronco is nice just because it gives Toyota a kick in the ass. The fact 6th gen 4R can fit 35s with basically no work and can be optioned with a sway bar disconnect are directly the result of the Bronco.

I've seen one Bronco on the trail so far with Sasquatch package. It climbed rocks as well as you'd expect a 4Runner on 35s would. There's less belly clearance/breakover angle, so it scrapes more often.
Pretty much the case with all solid axle vehicles - the worm gear steering box has more inherent backlash than rack & pinion.

It won't be as bad if its fairly new and hasn't been wheeled much.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned much about Broncos is the cost. The more capable trim lines are a fair bit pricier than a 4R.

I have heard buyers remorse is common with first time jeep buyers. Get their dream rig and hate daily driving it.

The only Bronco I have encountered so far was a two-door on 35s. It looked pretty sad on the ramp. The Jeep will have this thing for a snack Jeep will have this

^The Edmunds video showed a Bronco ranking pretty low on the RTI scoreboard. But it's one of several problems with the Bronco. Its electric steering rack is known to flex and jump teeth when heavily loaded. Its Dana44 rear axle tube is known to dislocate from the diff housing when Turn Assist is used on high-traction surfaces (the LC200 didn't have this weakness, as far as I know). Then there's the random electronic gremlins (like 4WD not shifting, requiring a reboot, etc.).

I've known several, or a lot, of people that bought a Jeep for the image. Marketing for any vehicle, including the 4R, motivates a lot of buyers. People buy vehicles, like a lot of things, because it's the image they want to portray, or they think they'll use it, purposely, more than they do. Jeeps are rugged, individualized, vehicles. The problem is most people aren't rugged or individuals. They want comfort and they want to deck the vehicle out with cool kid clothes. So, you see people with all the off road bits with the big name stickers and then they think, damn this thing rides rough. If they bought it for off road, really, they'd be happy. But, instead, they drive it 50 miles a day on the highway.

I've daily driven three Wranglers and two 4Runners. I've said it before, but the 4R does about 70% (percentage changes depending on my mood :) ) of what the Jeep does off road, but it does it in more comfort 100% of the time.

There were two Broncos on the trail to Top-of-the-World in Moab when I was there in '22. I had to get back down on the easier trail instead of the harder "down" trail. 1st major obstacle down was not gonna happen for me. I had to turn around and go back on the "up" trail. The Broncos took the harder trail down. Those Broncos hated the drivers, but they made it. I heard a bunch of tire squealing and metal bashing and scraping following them to the top. I never did catch them.

I sent a text to this Jeep guy, there's a spot where I want to see how his Jeep does. Hopefully he makes a video this weekend and send it to me, I am super curious

Tie rods are supposedly another weak spot on the Bronco.

Not if all you want is a locker from Toyota and you are forced to upgrade to all kinds of unnecesary options. You can get aftermarket locker for $1,500, parts and labor.

Death Valley wash roads were awful in my 4Runner, even 15 psi didn't do much difference. Good luck driving there in a Wrangler.
I think KDSS hurts you on wash roads, the Pro with Fox shocks is better.
