As long as I can touch them with my super magnet, sure! Hope it doesn't pinch them too much!

Being a Jeep fan boy, I passed up a dealer maintained, CPO, rubicon hard rock about a year before I bought the 4runner that was an excellent price - just a bit more than I wanted to spend. Would probably be worth about the same amount now but I like the extra cargo space and drive ability of the 4runner. I'd probably be happy in a wrangler unlimited as well because I'm used to driving solid axles but I still don't regret my decision.

Seems like the 4runner may now top the LC, at least in North American markets. Maybe the student has now become the master. Long live the king!

You'd be seeing that dealer for maintenance a whole lot, that's for sure.

Quite possibly. Had I not had such a terrible experience going from the '04 JGC to '14 JGC I would have done it, because why not when you've been happy?

The newer GC broke my spirit though - I'd heard rumors of poor jeep quality and reliability but hadn't experienced it up to that point.

Always wanted a wrangler but was warned the year jeep released unlimited (I wanted 4-door) was when they started going downhill in quality. It's probably hit or miss. With the 4runner, I don't have to worry about it.

Good to see the LC will be made in Tahara and other Japanese factories. Makes me wonder what the 6th gen 4runner quality will be if made in Mexico with taco or in the US.

I’ve driven CJ’s and current Wranglers as everyday vehicles. It’s all a matter of what you’re used to.

Based on what? My only experience is my two JKU Rubicons. One I drove to 150k miles, including a trip to Panama and back from Northern CA, the other had 50k on it when I decided to try a 4Runner. Routine maintenance on both, nothing else.

That's quite true. There are Wranglers all over my neighborhood and most of them commute pretty far, too. I'd need a Gladiator to get a full-sized keyboard in back, though.

Are you new here? It's a Chrysler product. Stuff breaks in them all the time. You got lucky with the 150k. Some people do. And 50k is on the high end of expectations for trouble-free miles.

I carried my super reverb and guitar in an MGB with the top down in high school. Not super convenient in the rain. Bands always end up with vans.

Just asking what your ACTUAL experience is with a Wrangler. Sounds like you’re just repeating internet FUD. I’ve owned a fair number of vehicles, Toyota’s are definitely going to last if you maintain them, but I’ve had some solid Jeeps as well. Can’t comment on every model, but the ones I’ve had have been fine.

Folks who wheel hard don't find 10 inches enough. 8.3 is plenty for the majority.

TJ with the 4.0 was as reliable as any 4Runner or Land Cruiser. I still see a gazillion of them on the road.

I used to drive a 2004 TJ, bought new. Check engine light within the first year. Warped brake rotors for no good reason. Turn signal stalk broke. The piping for the rear windshield wiper fluid stopped working and started squirting inside the vehicle. I never had the top off. This is just what I can remember. I only had it for 4 years. I wouldn't be surprised if the check engine light came on again at some point.

My parents and I have had other Jeeps since then. They all had problems. Junktacular rear hatch locking mechanism. An engine problem. Third brake light connectivity issue. At least two heater cores. Two transmissions. Expensive repairs. Most recently my dad had some sort of failure with the HVAC system. None of us put many miles on these vehicles. I got rid of mine after about 83,000 miles over 11 years, two heater cores, two transmissions, and some other things I'm forgetting. The thing was in the shop on a monthly basis for one stretch of time.

There's no FUD here. Chrysler blows the big one.

Meh, it's not the worst thing in the world. Definitely a different era. Though I did have that check engine light within the first year. Sometimes I still think about getting another one as a trail toy/as a way to get the tits out.

Akio Toyoda is measured in meters. He's Japanese. Full meters, too. Not centimeters. I dream of one day being worthy of accepting his entire length.

I dunno dude, you carry some bad juju for sure! You must have done something bad to a jeep at some point in your life for them to treat you like that!

I even had a rollover CJ that ran perfectly.

Lots of people have bad juju then. Also, CJ? That was one of the better eras. Even my TJ was from a decent era, though it was later in the decent era. Anyway, nobody's arguing against the good eras. Well, that much. Chrysler always had issues.

My last band had a van. But, before that it was the 4Runner, and usually multiple vehicles. The van was nice because we all rode together. The van sucked because I was the only one who didn't smoke weed.

    Lol!

I mean, the 4.0 I6 was a fine engine. But, let's not be silly.

And anyone who needs more than 8.3 inches could buy a Subaru Outback with a whopping 8.7 inches! My 2000 Land Cruiser has 9.8 stock.
