That looks strange - a bit on the hippopotamus side on the front end. I saw a new Tundra recently and thought it was hideous. Just my opinion of course. Others will love it.

That’s cool if they offer two door but I hope they still have a four door as long as the current Gen also. I really like the current size. Glad I got a 21 though

It would be pretty damn cool if a new version of this is under there:

I have seen reports of Toyota wanting to get in the small pickup market. Could be the concept for one.

All the Toyota execs probably watch this thread and say look at all of them salvating to see what the next 4R is like. Count that cash flow!

The TFL truck video said specifically not to worry, that this wouldn’t replace the Pro. His logic was that the pro is made for “high speed off-roading” where this one is for slower stuff like camping and overlanding.

They did mention the trail hunter brand will be on all their trucks, so I’m interested to see the trail hunter taco, 4R, and Sequoia.

    Hey @Squatting Pigeon.

    I noticed 4Runners.com added a 6th gen forum for 2024+.

Curious why you guys decided to add this section now vs say a year ago?

Do you know something that we don't?

What happens if the 6th gen doesn't come out as a 2024?

If the big whigs are watching can you please correct this frame issue so we don’t have to fluid film each year.

So, I watched David from Automotive Press today on YT. He claims now, that the 6th 4runner will get delayed further into the 2025. I also remember one of the members here, posted his opinion about the factory of Tacomas being at its full capacity in Mexico, and David said the same thing. I am not saying that I believe in everything that David says. He stated that the current gen of 4runners sells like hot cakes and imo that is the reason why they delayed it, apart from that they have many other models getting released this year and next year.

I am probably in the minority here but I’d be cool with a delay. All the reasons you mentioned for a delay seem reasonable also. Plus that gives time for the market to cool down and let prices resume to some level of normalcy and gives those who want it more time on a 5th Gen. Powder coat the frame at factory as an option for a few hundred more and I’m in

I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets delayed. Toyota is burning the candle at both ends with all these refreshes and all-new models.
I’m first on the list with my dealer for a GR Corolla, and the rollout has been a hot mess. The east coast just got the first allocation of vehicles last week and it was all of 8 cars... The rest of the country still has no clue when or how many they’ll get at this point before years end.

I’m curious if the new 4R will be on the new TNGA platform, making it possible to be built in MX or Texas alongside the other US spec trucks. If so, they’ll need to massively update one or both of those plants before they even think about adding another model to those poor workers.

I’m all for them taking their time and getting things right. They seemed to mostly do that with the new tundra. There were bugs, which can be expected with any new model, but they thoughtfully engineered that truck from the ground up it seems. They even completely re-engineered the frame to beef it up some. I recall seeing an interview with Mike Sweers somewhere where he talked about a new coating on the frame to address concerns of rust, but I can’t seem to find it right now.

I’m hoping to replace the tundra with the next gen 4R if it’s all I hope it to be, so more time to save up for that is A-OK with me.

That's the word around the campfire. I haven't heard whether or not it will be built here. But, it sounds like they will share a platform with the Tacoma Tundra and Sequoia.

2025? Sheesh! By then, my '19 will have 150K miles on it. I was hoping to trade it in while it was still worth some money.

@ValK83 mentioned this earlier in the thread and I hadn't heard about it from the reliable sources that I've been following.......until now.

So here's the latest scoop from from the sources I've been following......

The Guanajuato Plant WILL NOT start production of the 6th gen in early 2024. Roughly 6 months ago there was a production schedule from the Guanajuato Plant circling around that showed a production code of 610L(2) scheduled to start in Jan 2024. This was assumed to be the 6th gen because 610L is the 5th gen production code used by Toyota and the (2) was assumed to be the next generation. However, it looks like that code was simply a placeholder for the 5th gen.

Details about why the 5th gen code showed up at the Guanajuato Plant are pretty fuzzy, so I can't really give a concrete explanation for that. I can theorize that maybe Toyota had it there in the event that 6th gen development was taking longer than expected, they could potentially do a little refresh on the 5th gen so it could run a few more years, hence the (2) at the end of 610L. That theory has its issues, but it's all I can reasonably come up with at the moment. Nevertheless, it looks like Guanajuato will be in full Tacoma mode, along with the Tijuana Plant. Since the San Antonio Plant stopped with Tacoma production to focus on Tundra's and Sequoias, Tijuana and Guanajuato will be busy making over 200k Tacomas per year. Thanks @ValK83 for this early info!

Which brings us to the 6th gen. It was discovered that the 6th gen production code looks to be 930D. The Tahara plant shows production of 610L (5th gen) ceasing on August 31, 2024 and production of 930D (6th gen) starting on 9/2/2024. If this is in fact the 6th gen production code, this means the 6th gen would be arriving in the US late Sept to early Oct 2024 as a 2025 Model Year. Good news for people who want a Japanese built 4Runner.

@Squatting Pigeon......you might want to consider changing the 6th gen forum year to 2025+.

You know, if they threw an 8 or 10 speed auto behind it, it probably would be great.

With the annual MSRP price hike the 24 pro could be close to 60k
