I agree as far as the Pro is concerned. There's an SR5 I see on my commute now pretty regularly that looks fine to me. Honestly not a big difference from the 3rd Gen. That look will be a big departure from a 5th Gen 4R though

Hate how the front face has no definition.. the headlight is a melted blob.. there are no sharp contrasts… just a totally forgettable look.

the current gen Colorados and Canyons are waaay better looking

Can you replace the turbo on the Tacoma without having to remove the cab or engine?

    Why?

After sitting in and driving a new Taco, I'm ok with it.

I don't think the turbo has been the issue with the Tundras. It was the wastegate.

5th gen is a really good looking vehicle, in my opinion. If they move it in same direction as the new Tacoma that to me would be a step down. I am totally fine with interiors being the same, anything they do here over 5th gen would only improve it.

but I do agree, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.:)

    Fair enough.

I wonder how similar they'll actually be. Maybe the 4Runner front end will have a few tweaks.

When the 5th gen came out, I didn't think it looked as good as the 4th gen. I still have mixed feelings about the stubby nose 5th gens. But, I do like the current version.

From a manufacturing standpoint and maximizing profit margins it makes sense so multiple toolings and bits and pieces aren't unique to a given model. Compared to my 2nd gen Tacoma that I used to have, the interior of the 5th gen 4Runner is more solid and has a more upscale styling. I appreciated that they were different. With the Tundra/Sequoia, Tacoma/4Runner if the interiors are similar that's going to make the model differentiation a bit boring. A bit of a step backwards.

Totally agree with this, same perspective from my 2012 Taco: 4Runner is way nicer inside. I've since checked out 3G Tacos, and they are also nicer than the 2012, but still a step down from the 4R.

You can tell there was a different market/ budget for the two vehicles.

I admit having not seen any new interior in person, but it sucks the LC is getting shoehorned in on us. We all agree the 5th Gen 4R interior is a better build quality than the last 2 Tacos. Now I see these videos like the Taco glovebox not closing, knowing full well the 6th Gen will be a Taco Suv built in Mexico, and its interior is going to feel cheap. All the quality we rave about is going to go into the LC, yet Toyota will want $50k for the 4R still.

    Agreed.

New Landcruiser looks juicy and what the 4Runner should be imho.

Except for this. WTF were the designers thinking on the new Landcruiser when they offset this center console stuff?

    It's not crooked, it's angled. It's ergonomic.

Good news is you'll never look at it from that angle.

I remember in my Tacoma, the steering wheel column wasn't centered with the gauges, and neither was centered with the seat (by design). It didn't affect function, but it was weird to look at.

Nah I don’t care about extraneous edges in the interior…. Wtf is that 8inch ground clearance stock? My fking subaru ascent has more stock ground clearance .

slap the Land Cruiser name on any vehicle doesn’t automatically make it a Land Cruiser. These new lc250 will always have an asterisk

Oh boy. I can see another "true Landcruiser" conversation brewing.

I'm more interested in potential than the stock ground clearance. What size tires can we fit without butchering the chassis, how much suspension travel is possible, how good will the aftermarket support be, etc?

As far as the 6th gen 4Runner interior feeling cheap (assuming it will be the same as the Taco); how many of those complaining have sat in a new Taco? And, can we give them a minute to work out the bugs?

Agreed. I for one would have loved to get one. I got impatient last year and since used LC 200s cost an arm and a leg I decided to go with 4Runner. Had I known they are reintroducing I would have likely waited. For first two years dealers are going to want to markup anyway. So I tell myself I made the right decision ;)
They always sold LC and LC Prado. I am not sure what is the basis of not a true landcruiser argument.

I can't wait to check one out! I was hoping to see one at the Auto show in February, but I ended up skipping it due to family stuff. And, I'm not even sure if they had one there.

I think you made a good decision. You'll be able to recoup a lot of what you paid for the 4Runner in a few years once the price gouging on the LC250 has stopped.

In my mind the ideal situation is new LC causes 200s prices to drop like a rock. And I get one! Yes, that sounds delusional and it probably is but one can dream right.

Buddy on my local Toyota FB group says the brand new taco is underwhelming.
    Interesting to hear.
May not wanna automatically expect our socks to be blown off by the 6th 4R.
I like the look of the 5th Gen, I can't help but think they're gunna botch the new 4R look, like a 4th Gen but new

    "Can't even hear the turbo"

If you can't tell the difference between 180 lb/ft of torque and 317 lb/ft, I don't even know what to say.

If people are expecting a race car just because it has a turbo, they're definitely going to be disappointed. I personally thought it had nice midrange power.

The turbo 4 has way more low end torque than any other motor they've ever put in the Tacoma. As far as the 4Runner, it's only comparable to the 4.7 V8.

Last Friday I was at a local Toyota dealer where I know the sales guys pretty well and two of them confessed exactly the same thing regarding the new Tacoma engine: "It is no better than the v6. We are so disappointed!" I am scheduled to test drive the new Tacoma this week. But more importantly I am going to test the new 4 cylinder turbo hybrid that is being delivered now in the 2024 Crown. This is the new Prado engine. I will report my findings here of course and will brave the sock puppet fury that will follow to let you guys know the facts, but as usual I encourage you all to get to a Toyota dealer and test drive these things yourself asap. There is no longer any reason to guess or speculate...these engines are now available! No manner of obfuscation from the influencers here can change facts, so go get them!

Lol. I'm sure a test drive around the block has told them the whole story. Tell them to hook up a trailer and tow it through the mountains, and then decide if it's no better than the 3.5 fake Atkinson minivan motor.

I also encourage everyone to go drive one. Make up your own mind rather than listening to opinions online. Also, bear in mind that the turbo is tuned for low end and midrange power, so don't expect it to be fast.

If you want a good deep resonating laugh out loud, do you notice now that the facts, the data the very disappointing facts and data about these new cars and engines are out, the big time sock puppets have all but vanished? The Torquemada’s who vilified anyone who dared question the Prado 250, have taken their thirty pieces of silver and slunk outta town! You gotta love it.

The truth will out in all things my friends. Be patient and the truth will out.

Now get to work and start test driving. Let’s hear from real people now. Its your time to speak. Do these Titanic Toyotas float your boat?

I have no idea what you're talking about but I like the phrases 'torquemada' and 'silver and sunk'.
