What is with the low res pics of these spy shots? Starting to feel like alien photos. Lol

Auto guys do a lot of testing out in deserts of Socal, especially Death Valley area. See the test mules every time I've been. Maybe they going to head that way.

There is a Toyota proving grounds in Whitman Arizona, about 13 or 14 miles from where these pictures were taken. I used to see back in 05-06 The redesigned Tundra driving around here, and Sequoia all cladded up. I worked in Surprise Az we used to see test vehicles all the time. I live right down the street from where these pics were taken. I will be keeping my eyes out for this vehicle for sure.

Back window is covered because you can't know yet whether it still rolls down or not...

If based on GX and/or LC, I'm going to say no? I don't think either of those roll down

It’s such a useful feature. It would be a step back in my opinion. It’s a very 4Runner thing, they shouldn’t get rid of it.

This would be an acceptable reason to lose the roll down rear window.

The 4Runner has shared a platform with the GX/Prado for years, though. And, neither of those have had a roll down rear window.

Agreed. I really hope they keep it. Although, if they don't, it will be easier not to buy one.

The body does look smaller! That's a good thing because the wheelbase could stay the same or maybe even shrink slightly, which is a win in my book. But as many of y'all said, hopefully it does keep the rear window rolling down. But, I am super doubtful they'll make it removable top, even with the camo it doesn't look like that's the case.

The C pillar one? They are hiding it because that's a very specific 4runner design cue, I think.

Maybe it was a joke, but if you're serious do you mean a return to FJ rear doors?

No , let me start over . A you tube page was spit balling and is wondering why they are hiding the passenger rear windows because maybe we will get a removable top ...thats all . And yes maybe it's the C pillar

On the bright side, if they make the styling unattractive to buyers in Nigeria and Russia, theft will be less of a concern. I mean, 4th gens didn't get stolen that often. :cookiemonster:

^I suspect 6th gen's overall proportions will be similar to this. Many parts shared with the Tacoma from the B-pillar forward means a more raked windshield than our current 5th gen. While the C-pillar is upright to ease ingress and the D-pillar is upright for cargo room.

More raked windshield may mean less cracks and breaks due to rocks and debris. I like the upright windshield, not as upright as the FJ and already less prone to damage. If they slant it too much though, it puts the firewall too far foward and just gives you a ton of useless dash space

And the only way one of those $95K SUVS make it off road is if a soccer mom makes a wrong turn trying to get to a game.

Meanwhile I can buy two 4 Runners for the same price. One will be equipped for off road, the other to take kids to a soccer match.

    Checkmate.

The overtrail supposedly starts at 68k. I may consider one after 2 years or so once the guinea pigs, I mean early adopters, test it out.

But yeah, these things get expensive fast and Toyota doesn't allow you to order them so I have a bad feeling the overtrails are gonna arrive here loaded to the gill just like how we can't avoid sunroof for the past several years on ORP with KDSS.

Pricing on the new LC is too much. I would get the GX if I had that money

Honestly maybe a smart move on Toyotas part. It will def set the 4Runner apart since it’ll be cheaper. Some folks don’t want a Lexus no matter how cheap it is. As some will want a Toyota no matter how expensive. Maybe that’s the crowd they’re targeting.

What worries me is it won’t just be cheaper in dollars… it’ll be “cheaper” in quality, as well. Right now the 4runner feels more more luxurious than the 3rd gen Tacoma. Textures, feel, stitching, joining of parts, attention to detail, etc. I noticed it immediately when I went from 3rd gen Tacoma to my 5th gen 4runner. The difference is huge.

Details you don’t notice at first glance, but when you really start looking at the details, there is a big difference.
