6th gen Speculation Thread

I haven't heard anything juicy lately.

But if we have a year left until the 6th gen comes out, there should be some test mules out on the road here shortly. Maybe we start seeing some spy shots of those in the next few months.

 

Hypothetically speaking, what shock set up do people think the 6th Gen TRD Pro will get? Same Fox shocks? back to Bilstein? something new like OME?

 

The new Taco PRO is getting Fox, so I'd bet on the 4Runner getting the same.

 

I should probably test drive a TRD Pro to see how those Fox shocks feel to standard shocks. It seems jury is split on if they are liked or not and many recommend better aftermarket shocks..

if I get a 6th Gen most likely will be a limited or Pro. Although a SR5 would be tempting too. I kinda like the idea though of not having to manually change back into and out of 4WD but not fan of the Limited tires, wheels and all the silver/chrome on it

It's not that the Fox shocks are bad. They're actually quite nice.

The argument is more along the lines that for the money you would spend on them, you could purchase shocks that are a lot beefier with the ability to adjust valving to suit your ride preferences, rebuild, adjust height, and keep cooler with reservoirs.

Now if you want to get a Pro for other reasons, then get a Pro. But if the Pro shocks are a big selling point for you, you'd be much better off with an SR5 and a set of Kings, Fox Factory race series shocks, Bilstein 8112/8100, ect.....

I've been dreaming of a Pro upgrade similar to what the Raptor is to the F150, Bronco, or Ranger.

I don't think us Toyota fans will ever see that, unfortunately.

Those new Tacoma seats look gimmicky as hell.

The 2024 Fortuner and Landrcruiser didn't get those seats. But neither of those vehicles offer a TRD Pro model.

They are offered only with the Tacoma TRD Pro, so it seems likely 4Runner TRD Pro would also get them. The red/black seats look sweet, but definitely could do without the shock stuff. Not finna race the Baja 500.

 

I think if you get the Tacoma with these seats, you are not planning on having anyone but a child or dog in the back seat.

 

That implies we'd be in the same vehicle.

As long as those are only going in the PRO, then I guess I don't care. Affordable or not, I probably wouldn't want the PRO.

 

For all we know the hypothetical 6th gen TRD Pro will be a "hardcore" edition with rear seat delete and additional bracing, like the GR Corolla:

 

Yeah, the LC certainly doesn't appear to be the Bronco killer some folks were hoping for.

If they follow suit of the new Tacos, it looks like the 6th gen could be a better off-roader than the 5th gen. It wouldn't be hard for Toyota to make that happen, but I'm sure the penny pinchers will make them water it down from what we'd like to see.

Someone built an insane gaming rig using the new Tacoma seat.

Those customers have probably already been alienated due to the LC250 being smaller than the previous LC200, and/or they will probably just switch to the LX since that's the US equivalent of the LC300

Another theory would be that Toyota introduced the 250 to satisfy previous 4Runner buyers who prefer a larger 4Runner and more luxury so that they can make the 6th gen a tad smaller and more off-road oriented.

This might just be me fantasizing out loud, though.
