The Japanese were able to get the FJ70 because consumers there demanded it. Consumers have power. Ask the people who make Bud Light. Get organized. Write letters to Toyota. Post messages all over social media. Toyota has people on this forum. Let them know you want the FJ70.

The most obvious markets for the FJ70 are Australia, Africa and the USA where there is an abundance of wild terrain and people who need to master it for work or pleasure. Australia and Africa have the FJ70 and the USA could get it with a little effort on the part of consumers.

And absolutely boycott the ludicrous, to the point of being silly, model 250 sewing machine powered fiasco. Just say no! Tell your friends to say no! Same thing for the Gen 6. NO! No! No!

Toyota is already getting the message on the 250. They are only bringing in 350 units for all of Canada. Imagine that! They know it’s not going to sell. Just say no! Ship them back to Japan...the problem is the Japanese don't want the 250 with the 4 cyl. Do you realize that? Toyota is not selling the 4 cyl engine 250 in their own blinkin country. People there do not want it! That's like Macdonalds not selling the Big Mac in the US. Moms not making apple pie. Babe Ruth playing for the Cubs. You want to know what the current craze in Japan is ..you guessed it.....the FJ70! That is the car the Japanese want. Get it and get it!

The problem is that there's only a handful of people who will actually buy a 70 series if they bring it here. If they could ship them over in the exact form they're sold elsewhere, it wouldn't be such a big deal. But, they would have to develop a left hand drive version, and swap in a drivetrain that conforms to US emissions and CAFE requirements. There's no way they're going to do that just to sell a couple of units to some enthusiasts.

I'd also be willing to bet that the LC250 and 6th gen 4Runner are going to sell just fine, in spite of a handful of forum guys not liking turbos. The 250 looks great, is reasonably priced, and more than capable enough of the off-roading 90% of the market does.

I suspect Toyota is getting nervous because of the reaction in Japan. The Japanese press is calling the 250 a glorified passenger car. The 250 is getting bad press in Japan. The craze, and it is a bona fide craze, is for the FJ70. Read it. And Japan at first look would not seem to be a great market for the FJ70. It is a super Urban driver market, high density, little of the wide open spaces in US, Australia or Africa.

FYI, there's no such thing as an FJ70 anymore. People who claim to know a lot about what's going on with Toyota should know this. ;)

I wasn't referring to you, but J70 would be more appropriate. :D

The F has been long since discontinued.

Why would you want a J70 when you already have a J150? That's like 80 more Js...

Like any of y'all would actually pay $60k or more for a bare bones 1960s truck, lol. All these threads about why 4R doesn't have memory seats, automatic headlights, etc.

Of course, whatever works for you, most of us have the member in question blocked so as not to have to listen to their drivel.

"The only thing I want Limited" is the nonsense dished up by a non-US member, telling us what we should demand for the US market. Tell me they don't understand US CAFE, Crash and Safety standards, let alone the wants and demands of the US consumer desire to have all things optioned to the max with butt warmers and ventilated seats, let alone a bunch of automated electronics.

I'm all in favor of stripped down, utilitarian options. But, the market for it just isn't here, unfortunately.

I also think that, when it comes to things like power windows and locks versus manual versions, it's probably cheaper and more efficient for them to only offer one option to save space on the production line.

Also, I will admit that I have been spoiled by my "butt warmers", lol!

I have never ignored anyone here or on Tacoma world. Even if somebody consistently posts useless things, once in a while they might post something good.

I know I've made an ass of myself more than once on this forum. But, I like to think I contribute positively overall. :anonymous:

I'd hate to think that a bunch of people have me ignored, but I'm sure a few do.

Now that's something I'd be interested in if we didn't just buy the Rav4. I was really interested in a Maverick if a) it didn't cost a billion dollars, and b) wasn't a new model year by Ford.

The hottest car fad in Japan is the new 2024 FJ70. Read it. This author from bestcarweb.jp , the most influential Japanese car magazine, tries to warn potential buyers that the new/old FJ70 can be pretty awkward and uncomfortable to drive, for urban driving and for those with families. But at the end he cannot restrain himself and gushes, “Of course, I am aware of the disadvantages, but I am in love with the FJ70 and I love it so much that I will buy it too.” His arguments against the beloved FJ70 were so unconvincing that he could not even convince himself!

But don’t read what this author says because he is obviously a troll! And whatever you do, don’t believe a word I say either. Get informed. Use your own judgement. Test drive. Get a translator app and read social media in other countries.

Did you see how fast the surrogates here jumped to try and silence my post?

Call me naive but for the life of me I cannot understand why Toyota cannot simply address things in the first person. “I am XYZ from Toyota, and Toyota’s position on this issue is XYZ.” This surreptitious underhanded style of marketing is beneath Toyota. IMO.

So the take away is, after people bought the first year hype, they discovered that Ford stands for Found on the Road Dead, not to mention the cheap interior materials, and the downward spiral of year over year sales numbers confirm that.

It would be interesting to see what the numbers would be if dealers were not adding massive markups on them. I am sure there are customers that would purchase one but decided against it after they were told they needed to pay an extra 10-30k. I thought about one for a brief moment but said forget it when several dealers I looked at had the crazy markups.

I wonder how much of this is because inventory at other OEMs has gotten better. I was listening to animal spirits podcast the other day and the guest mentioned brand loyalty is at an all time low. That could explain lower sales, maybe, if now customers have more choices.
But I agree the lack of quality in these vehicles also could be the reason.

I'm always humored by the Ford Blue Bloods, who stay loyal to Ford, even when their Bronco fuel pump is broken miles off the trail. I've never been brand loyal so maybe I don't understand, I buy the model that suits my needs at the time of purchase, regardless of brand (so long as it has a track record of reliability).
