Must be bad news. Maybe leaf springs in the rear up to the SR5 trim. Maybe the rear hatch glass is immovable:stirthepot:

The travesty! Not the immovable hatch glass! I won't stand for it.

Another angle. Double hood scoop is kinda weird..maybe the lighting makes it look worse

Really weird imo. Hopefully there is a reason for it under the hood but given our hood scoop is fake, I will not hold my breath

@Idayota More clickbait renders, there has been an outbreak of them this week. Many missing simple features and design ques, if they had bothered looking at the teasers.

But you did what they wanted, you clicked on it. We will have more teasers in a week or two, be patient, then we will get another rash of clickbait renders.

Did you see it on Instagram? Or, did someone just make a rendering and make it look like a screenshot of Toyota's IG account?

Not trying to sound paranoid, but just thinking how it could be fake.

The rear windows and body look a lot like the current GX/Prado, so it seems fishy to me. :notsure:

@Idayota, that is the 2021 Land Cruiser 300 GR, introduced in 2021.

    MORE FAKE NEWS!

NO, WE ARE NOT GETTING A LAND CRUISER 300 IN THE US.

We will be getting the new design Land Cruiser Prado, US variant.

Yes, and if the LC/Prado that is coming out looks like this 300 GR I might have to eat my hat. This 300 has real character. Just goes to show you that Toyota can do something great, if they want to. On the other hand, if the LC/Prado winds up looking like that pathetic Ford Bronco Sport/Flex render we see all too often, it will be a big pass. The margin between Toyota Heaven and Hell is defined by the two very different visions of the new LC. Pray, yes, pray it is the 300 GR version!!

Agreed, those of us enthusiasts who post information from verified Toyota insiders (aka, the Plano grapevine) and verified industry insiders (aka, @Carmaker1), along with informed speculation, get drowned out by the asshats.

@Idayota, this does not include you and other users that get confused by misinformation and clickbait websites. Nor does it include non-US members who discuss Toyota models they get but are not available here in the US, however, those tibbits do confuse some members who do not understand the differences. When some of us enthusiasts try to correct the narrative, in the "Speculation Thread", or do a deep dive into what we can learn from enhanced teaser photos, we get mocked by references to magic 8-balls, ghosts and seances.

@Bob and @Squatting Pigeon, I believe this website is a sister website to tacomaworld.com, does it have a similar level of misdirection for new model information, such as the upcoming 4th gen Tacoma?

With a public site allowing any member to post in here, there’s really no way of vetting. We have some regulars with insider info, but even then it’s all speculation until Toyota releases something to the public. Anyone reading anything in the “upcoming models” threads/articles on any public website (including auto journalism sites) should take that info given with a massive grain of salt.

It's probably worse, since TW has way more traffic. Heck, I have the highest post count here, and on TW there are folks over 100K!

Plus, this is a speculation thread, as @Beachguy just mentioned. I don't take anything I read in here too seriously, no matter who posts it.

Yeah, it's a speculation thread, if you're expecting facts here, you're doing it wrong. :p

Anyhow, more fuel to the fire: https://www.drive.com.au/news/2024-toyota-prado-engine-release-details-leaked/

Next Prado will be 4 cylinder only. Which might mean the same for the 4Runner. Not that I'd be surprised. It's the same way now with the Lexus having the V8, the 4R has a V6 - just two less cylinders in both in the future.

I think we should just stop calling the Prado a Land Cruiser and call it a Prado. It's not a Land Cruiser. It's a 4Runner/GX chassis and body with some styling nods to the past. Sure, Toyota can slap a badge on whatever, but, calling a 4Runner a Land Cruiser doesn't make it a 70 or 80 series.

Toyota calling LC Prado in US when the name has no association/name recognition is like shooting yourself in the foot.
I seriously doubt that will happen.
But someone said this is speculation thread...so carry on speculating.

Scroll back and re-read what I wrote. I said nothing about what Toyota should do, but what "we" should refer to whatever box on wheels gets shipped with a Toyota badge that says Land Cruiser.

    "I think *we* should stop..."

    See that "we" in there?

See how it doesn't say "Toyota"? See how it says "we"?

This might help with your English language usage:

    we
    pronoun, plural in construction
    |\ˈwē\
    1. I and the rest of a group that includes me , you and I : you and I and another or others : I and another or others not including you
