    Meh

I like the exterior design of the OverTrail. If the new 6th generation 4Runner looks similar to this I would would be happy. Hard to tell in video but it looks like it may be longer which I wouldn’t like. I find current 4Runner length perfect. I liked the old Chevy Tahoe until they extended it.

I definitely wont be rushing out to buy an OverTrail anytime soon. Totally glad to keep and hold onto my T4R after seeing this.

    GX OverTrail:
    17mpg
Most likely close to if not over $80k after fees/taxes
    Higher costs of Lexus service/repairs

Next contender up for possible competition for my T4R I guess will be Land-cruiser Prado. GX is out. Bye Felecia

"Ford told us around 25-30% of customers opted for the two-door Bronco, while around 70-75% picked the more practical four-door."

I agree 2-door would not make sense for US market.

New Tacomas all 4-door except one model.

New Tundra line all 4 door, except the lowest model which has the half doors for the back.

Daddy like! Momma too. We will give it 2 model years to fix any bugs, and pick one up for the wife. Unless the new Land Cruiser or 4Runner sways our decision.

The outgoing 4R doesn’t share anything with the outgoing GX, and now they’re going to be kissing cousins so I’m gonna stay optimistic :D

Yeah I agree with this. 4Runner engine-wise will sit between GX and tacoma. If they ever want to bring prado to US market, having same powertrain in a 4Runner does not make sense. And then it is harder to distinguish between the two anyway, even if prado does not come to US market.

The outgoing 4Runner and outgoing Lexus GX share the Land Cruiser J150 platform. Same frame, axle housing, rotors etc. You can cross check the part numbers. The Land Cruiser Prado is identical to the 4Runner except the sheetmetal and glass - it's the same person just wearing different clothing. The GX has the V8 so obviously that's different and the transmission.

According to news reports the GX will continue to be built at the Tahara plant.

Ah I could’ve sworn the current GX and 4R were different architecture but might have my internet articles mixed up

Was never a huge fan of the GX body, but now imo? Less imagination....

Every article I read said expect pricing to start around 60k.
Existing 2023 model starts at ~59k.

Base pricing is not going to change.

They are built on the same platform. The GX is basically a V8 4runner.

Not entirely, but the lines are closer now than the old style GX.
I won't ever be able to afford one or a new 4Runner, so my opinion really doesn't matter.
It's just not an appealing style to me.
    Makes me glad I have a 4th and a 5th.

A video on YouTube has a 6'8" guy sitting in the 4th gen tacoma with no issue. I want to say it was the TFL video.

The problem of being tall(for me atleast) is that yeah I do fit in a tacoma, but my seats so far back the back seat becomes useless and no one can sit back there(its reason I got rid of my 3rd gen taco for a 5th gen 4r)

True but to be honest the rear seats have always been useless except for kids on the double cab. That's why Toyota builds 4runner, Highlander, Tundra, Sienna, and Sequoia to fit more people in it. Midsize trucks rarely have a lot of space for rear passengers but hey they look good at the mall!

Even with a 6' person in the front seat, only kids can fit back there.

Yes, I have to put seat all way back but that’s pretty much any car I drive.mmy issue was more the how my seat position was, my legs would go straight out in front of me to pedals and felt like I was sitting in a Kayak

the T4R seat seems taller and like I’m sitting in more of a normal chair.

I did test drive a Chevy Colorado last year and it was nice but seat felt similar to the Taco

So, with the Toyota Land Cruiser teaser today, I'm starting to think they'll separate the 4Runner into the overgrown station wagon that it is, and LC will be the offroad choice. Speculation is the next LC will use the GX chassis, and I could see that taking the TRD Off-Road and Pro variants (and whatever new Trailhunter-y versions) from the 4Runner and badging them Land Cruisers. Price can go up a few thousand $ for the LC name plate. I feel as though they're trying to decide if they want both a 4R and a Land Cruiser, both valuable brand assets, or keep one and ditch the other.

Hmmmmm. Weren’t the LC’s like in the $80K range? Tuff pill to swallow if the price is same or more

They must be alluding to the J300 series because the current J150 series of Land Cruisers are already here in North America in the form of the 4Runner (identical to the Land Cruiser Prado save the body panels and glass) and the Lexus GX (identical to the Prado save the engine and transmission).

    But that's up to 2023.

For 2024, why bring the Land Cruiser Prado when the 4Runner and Lexus GX will already have that segment covered? So they must be bringing back the J300 series unless Toyota wants to flood the North American market with multiple variants of the 4Runner/Lexus GX/Land Cruiser Prado -- which makes no sense to me.

    Thoughts?

Gee, that was kinda the point of my post:

"So, with the Toyota Land Cruiser teaser today, I'm starting to think they'll separate the 4Runner into the overgrown station wagon that it is, and LC will be the offroad choice. My guess it won't be the 300-series, it'll be like the current Prado, and it'll take over the top-spec variants of the 4Runner.
