    Several thoughts:
    1. No rendering from the mind of any pixel artist ever ends up looking like the final product.
    2. The article is written like clickbait.
    3. The rendering is way out of proportion, for all accounts the size is supposed to remain relatively the same, in the rendering they have grown the length considerably, not what you want for good breakover angles for an offroader.
    4. The wheel wells are absolutely cartoonish, WAY TOO OVERSIZED, what are they trying to fit, 50 inch tires on it?
    5. From the top view, again, way too wide, not good for trails.
    6. From the front end, maybe, sharing the Sequoia and Tacoma style only makes sense.
Standby for more pixel artists to make more renderings in order to get the ad traffic clicks.

Agreed with most of what you said.

But, to me the wheel wells look about the same size as the current generation wheel wells. They just look bigger because they are more squared off and they have those gray fender flares drawn on.

Either way, it's just yet another rendering based on somebody's speculation, so there's really no reason for anyone to get excited either way about it.

If it looks anything like the current Tundra - I'm out! IN MY OPINION - the Tundra and Sequoia are FUGLY and I will keep what I have - a 2015 TRD AC Sport Tacoma, and my 2019 T4R ORP. I'm old enough that I just might be done buying anything else. Maybe.

agreed. I don’t like the styling of new tundra. I saw a V8 and new tundra and there’s just no comparison, V8 looked way better. Unfortunately they’ll try and get similar cues into 4R and Taco.

I quite like the look of the new Tundra.

I don't find anything about it particularly offensive.

That new Tacoma looks cool, I have to agree that I dislike the new Tundra tho even more than the Sequoia. sometimes less is more less futuristic is more timeless. Toyota lights keep growing larger and wrap around further and further. The new Tundra front is all grille to me, it's like a grille with a truck attached.

I don't know what any of that means, but if true, what a great find!

The light below the headlight sure matches the teaser posted by Toyota.

It’s interesting that that Tacoma bumper design mimics the exact same change that happened mid-2nd gen. From a straight line fog to fog to a more angled look at the fogs. A “plain” to a more aggressive appearance. Hard to explain but… Those of you that pay attention to these details will know what I mean.

I love the look of the front end. As has been said, the Tundra grill is hideous. Not sure the black top would be practical in the Texas heat, but who needs practicality. This rendition looks very nice.

Gives me a reason to trade in my 2nd gen tacoma for the 4th gen. Better hp, torque, and mileage is all I ask

The incoming turbo 4 will have way more torque than any previous Tacoma, and at lower RPM's. Not sure what the horsepower is going to be, but fuel economy should also be better, depending on the driver.

My very least favorite thing about the new tundra are the taillights. Glad to see them on a another truck

Agree about taillights ya. That, and they keep moving further away from having bumper body seams located where you fasten aftermarket bumpers. Gotta chop the shit outta some of these. I like how old Toyota's even my 2016 has clear cut lines where a steel bumper can go, I actually miss chrome bumpers

It's starting to make sense to me why there is a "shortage of 5th gens"

Here are my thoughts on contributing factors:
    • make it more difficult to order the 5th gen 4R so the same buyers would instead wait and buy the 4th gen taco
    • slow down the manufacturing of parts for 5th gen 4R since the new GX is coming. Focus supply on building those components that will be shared with the 6th gen 4R
    Just my 2 cents.

And the Prado supposed to come out too since it's pretty much same as GX. I know the next generation won't be perfect the first year, but hopefully with the delays, they learn what people like/dislike about new gen tundra/sequoia/tacoma/GX.

Toyota is still one of the most impacted auto companies by the microchip shortage.

Couple that with crazy used car prices and pent up demand for new cars and there's no question why there's a shortage of 5th gens.

They are hiding the awful grill there. If they still have that stupid hourglass grill I am gonna flip out.
It makes no sense to me that Toyota *deliberately* makes GX so inferior looking compared to 4R (which I consider comparable). No matter how comfortable GX is over 4R, you still have to drive with that stupid grill!
Their sedans have nice grill and I guess its due to the lesser depth that it looks so nice compared to SUVs. On SUVs it just looks...bad.

Ha ha! I never really roll down the windows, I live in the desert where it’s either freezing cold, 80 mph dusty winds, or hot AF.

I will say, I miss the barn doors on the old square body suburban I had. Don’t miss the gas mileage on the 454, but it was a great camping vehicle.

I think it would be cool if the 6th gen had the standard rear hatch opening (like it currently does with the roll down window, of course), but also incorporated a tailgate should you want to go that route. My '91 4Runner had a tailgate and I loved it!

If you open it from the outside button, the hatch pops up. But if you roll down the rear window, there would be a tailgate opener on the inside that would allow you to open the tailgate.

    Win win.

It was to match the styling of other Lexus models... which probably means the hourglass grille will be larger, like on the Land Cruiser-based LX600 :bananadead:

Each one of those cow-catchers is bigger than the next Lexus. It boggles the mind that these are designed that way on purpose. I predict in a few years the front fenders will flare out at the front so they can fit bigger grills. Sounds ridiculous, but who could’ve imagined lexus would have kept doubling down hard on this “design” cue for the last 10 or 12 years.

The new Taco is out and I expect a lot of the features on it will transfer over to the 4Runner when it is revealed including the engines. It is posted in the "other Toyota vehicles" section if you haven't seen it yet.

I think it's relevant to post here as well since there very well could be carryover with the 6th gen 4Runner.

BTW......looks exactly like the leaked photo @gkomo posted 2 weeks ago. Nice job @gkomo!!

Article link: "Tacoma will offer two powerful and efficient powertrains using a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. For entry- level SR grades, this engine produces 228 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft. of torque. For all other grades, output increases to 278 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque when paired with the new eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). Enthusiasts rejoice: a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT2) with automatic rev matching and anti-stall technology is available. Manual transmission models produce 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.

New to the mid-size, body-on-frame pickup segment is Tacoma’s i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, the most powerful powertrain ever offered on Tacoma. Available on TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and standard on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter halo models, i-FORCE MAX pairs the 2.4-liter engine with a 48-hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission feeding off a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack that creates a total system output of 326 horsepower and a whopping 465 lb.-ft. of torque, nearly doubling the torque output of the current-gen truck with the V-6 engine. When equipped with i-FORCE MAX, Tacoma can ascend an 8- percent interstate grade without the need to downshift, making long road trips more pleasant than ever in a Tacoma. Fuel economy estimates for all powertrains will be announced closer to their on-sale dates."
