Just hit a small doe about a 100’ from turning into my driveway at about 20 mph. Hit her square in the middle of the plate bumper and pushed her into the ditch. She took off and only left me with a bunch if hair on the shackles. No damage!

 

You owe it to yourself to check out 4xInnovations. I have them because of the "Drop Test" video below. I have smashed and crashed them on the rocks too many times to count. Recommend 100%. They are on sale for $659. The 4x skid plates also bolt to the sliders, creating a cohesive, bolt together unit that turns your 4R into a tank. Most other sliders are a simple flush mount bracket. 4x has a "C" bracket that bolts to 3 sides of the frame. IIRC it was 13 bolts per slider. I truly believe these are the strongest sliders (and skids) on the market.

They only come in raw metal. You will have to paint or powder coat them yourself.

Are these the ones to get? Looks tough! What about RCI ? Any other brands? May not need tank strength but a decent rail

 

If you're planning on dropping the weight of your 4Runner onto boulders, then yes. If not, most of the other frame-mounted sliders will work.
