Explored a new fishing spot today. The pointy rock in the background is Mt. Eva, which is just over 13000'.

We took the 4runner over Four Peaks Pass, AZ and had lunch at Roosevelt Lake with the dogs. Great day.

Lucky man. It's a beautiful area. My friend who was with me said it like some of the best of Utah, Colorado, Arizona all in one place. My wife and I have begun to explore southwest N.M. maybe next time you can show me some trails.

Fltslr Let me know if you ever come my way. We have a guest room your welcome to use while you explore my area. Silver City is pretty historic in old west days. Tourist town for sure with lots of coffee shops and art galleries. I live about 15 miles out of the town in the mountains and pretty isolated. Lots of wildlife in my back area. We are heading to our place in Pennsylvania and will be there for a month and a half. Be back 1st week of November.

Fltslr, our cottage in in Williamsport, Pa. Home of the Little League World Series. It’s right on a fishing/kayaking creek. This is the back yard and our fishing creek.

And thus ends the trend of good western themed pictures!

Although to be fair, there is a surprising amount of fun off road stuff in PA / Appalachia.

Fltslr, if you haven’t lived back
East, it takes some getting use to. Humidity is high and bad and lots of bugs. Ticks are really bad and you have to check yourself every time you go out into the woods. But, there is lots of water and the fall colors can’t be beat. We own
Our cottage outright ( no mortgage ) but, I ‘be lived in the western part of the US all my life and I could never live in the east.

    LOL it's fine bro...

I lived in California last few years before coming to Ohio and I've traveled all over the US. There's benefits and drawbacks to living anywhere... I don't know that I've ever heard anyone refer someone away from living in the mid-west / east because of bugs and ticks though!

Meefzah, just telling it like I see it. We go back to Pennsylvania every year and spend a month at our place. It’s fine for about a week, but, after that it’s time to leave and head back west. Only bought the cottage to have a place to stay while we visit our daughter.

Went to a training in West Virginia and flew into Dulles in July. Too hot for a raincoat and too wet not to!

I am an east coaster (Maryland) that loves the west, but your lack of water out there is getting scary!

I remember talking to a BOR (Bureau of Reclamation) hydrologist and he said transferring West was a real culture shock - from too much water to too little!

I moved from Arizona to North Carolina last year. The humidity isn’t that bad (imho) compared to the heat. However, there are things that I missed about being out west.
    • Quick access to trails
    • Amazing mountain peaks
    • Not having to worry about mold (not as common but could happen in Arizona)
    • Less bugs (there are bugs in NC I have never seen).
However, there are benefits I love about the east…
    • 4 seasons
    • Fireplace in winter (northern Arizona uses fireplaces)
    • Grass that I don’t have to constantly try to keep green
    • rain
    • Beautiful scenery (trees, mountains, etc)
All in all they have their benefits. I asked my wife if I were to go back would she? Her answer was a resounding… NO!!! We miss family but we love it out east. Still want to travel out west to go off-roading and see family but that is about it.

But there is still quite a bit of humidity for me anyway. End up drenched with any exertion, even in the winter. I think I'm too used to the desert. Oh, but luckily very few ticks so far. (knock on wood. LOL)

We have had rain almost every day for about a month and a half. This is the monsoon season and it has been very good to us this year. While the rest of the west has been 90 to 100 degrees, we have been in the 70’s.
