Just put it inside that "Bear proof Storage" for 15-20 minutes in the afternoon (during spring=5 minutes in the morning during summer!)

Took the scenic route from Chinle, AZ (near Four Corners on the Navajo Nation) to Phoenix, AZ, and came across these three young men riding horses in the middle of nowhere. In the side-view mirror, nothing but emptiness. In the dashcam picture, there is a homestead on the left but the three rode past them towards even more emptiness ahead. Leaving them behind, continued west to Piñon, AZ, then south traveling through Hard Rock, AZ where the Senior Center off Hopi Route 22, which uses the Hard Rock Cafe trademark, caught my attention. South, west, then southwest to Prescott National Forest for a place to sleep overnight, and more vastness. The next morning, headed to Crown King, AZ for lunch and then Phoenix, AZ.

A nice day ride with some local forum members @Thatbassguy , @Getuponit , @Stoney Ranger on the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail.

Wisconsin has some incredible scenery, the most beautiful in Iowa between Marquette and McGregor;) where these pics were taken

(Sorry, the only part of the 4runner visible is the green hue of the windshield)

Pardon the soapbox moment. Abruptly terminated trip when four puppies came out of NOWHERE barking after the vehicle. Had it not been for their barking I would not have seen them as they were so small and similar in color to the surrounding. The nearest house was more than 5 miles along the primitive unmaintained road. The four of them devoured some 5 water bottles and a cup of yogurt. At first, thought to bring them along to finish the last leg of the trip (~150 miles) and on the return home (another ~330 miles) find them a shelter. Except, two of them were less active, and one vomited once on the way to the asphalt and several times while I was airing up the tires before getting on the pavement. Goggled nearby animal shelter and took them there (~30 miles away) where a rapid test for parvovirus was positive.

It just happens April is Animal Cruelty Prevention Month. While uncommon, it's NOT the first time, animals (without collars or chips) are abandoned at rest stops, dog parks, etc. This post is NOT for kudos or judgment but a diagnosis. Signed, The Animal Kingdom. Again, pardon the soapbox, you do you.

I CONCUR! Incidentally, April is Animal Cruelty Awareness Month. Any of us driving in the middle of NOWHERE(!) or even at interstate highway rest stops can and will encounter abandon animals, as these locations are common dumping grounds. As we consider the number of contingencies related to self or vehicle injury, first aid kits, recovery/tools gear, etc., add one more, encountering an abandoned or injured animal. Thus, consider carrying food to lure, water bowl, leash, etc. Keeping in mind the animal could carry illness (ie parvovirus) or vectors of illness (ie ticks, fleas) that could infect your pet and/or you. Something to consider.

    Again, I CONCUR!

NOT aware of how to PM. I hope you don't mind this reply. If so, let me know and I can take it down. I think.

Anyhow, thank you for your kind words, and I much appreciate the offer. The intent of the post is to bring awareness that any of us driving in the middle of NOWHERE(!) or even through interstate highway rest stops, can and will encounter abandoned animals, as those locations are common dumping grounds. As we consider the number of contingencies related to self or vehicle injury, first aid kits, recovery/tools gear, etc., consider adding one more, while uncommon the possibility of encountering an abandoned or injured animal. Thus, the community of travelers ought to consider carrying food to lure, a water bowl, leash, etc. Keep in mind the animal(s) could carry illness (ie parvovirus) or vectors of illness (ie ticks, fleas) that could infect you or your pet (whether your pet is with you during the encounter or you unknowingly take the illness to your pet). Something to consider. Again, thanks.
