Not particularly scenic most of the time: Street in front of the house:

Was able to get out to Anza Borrego this weekend and do some camping with my son. Did some shooting and cruising around in my new 2023 TRDORP. Amazed at the capabilities of the 4Runner. Easily cruised around the sand dunes even in 2wd and that’s with stock pizza cutters. Don’t underestimate the power of the force! image1.jpgIMG_0964.jpgIMG_0972.jpgimage0.jpg

I've always loved the A-B area ever since I was a kid. It's one of the things that I've truly missed after moving from SoCal.
Currently it's 0* here in MT. It was at -23* last night.
And I miss the good Carne Asada tacos & Chile Verde burritos.

You guys know what I'm talking about...

Where is this? Is there dispersed camping on that route? I'm looking to get out this weekend solo and that looks like some wonderful potential

Photo was taken at 33.34199, -111.22019 and we came in the trail at 33.27515, -111.28135

it’s a beautiful area and tons of fire roads to explore with campsites scattered about. I can send you our campsite coordinates as well in a dm if you want, I’ve been out there twice now.

I remember my very first hike to flat iron was in February. It was like 50 degrees out the majority of the hike but when we got to the top it was about 30 and snowing. It tripped us out. Very beautiful area for sure!

The thing I remember most about the Flatiron is the tree assist to get up the last step. Snow adds a whole new element. There are few things as beautiful as snow in the desert.

Interesting … never thought about mts other than rocky terrain.

is it useful even in flat terrain + deep snow? is it able to modulate throttle better than the driver?

Terrible. We skipped Racetrack Playa because of this. Once the stock Bridgestone Duelers wear out I'm going to swap to TRD 17" rims and some proper A/T tires.
