If LR and AG on 2022 ORs are still going to be built in limited #s like the 2021 AG and Cement Trails then there is nothing to worry about for AG and LR PRO owners. I've seen 2 AG and 0 cements Trails so far in and around La La land which is the 4runner capital after maybe Denver. I've seen way more AG PROs

I put my order in a few weeks ago!! Going for a LR TRD Pro with the sliding cargo deck and tube runners! Thanks everyone for all your advice. Might be a long wait but hoping I get it sooner than later with the shortage.

My guy said that I would either get the 2021 model or 2022 model in lunar rock. He guaranteed it but I'm not 100% sure.

No hate on anyone saying it’s a depreciating asset, I get it that’s sound advice, but not entirely accurate in the general sense on this vehicle. My 21 Lunar TRD Pro has 12k miles and I was offered $65k after 8 months of ownership, a small dent on the side from a trail and over 10k miles. Payed 49k OTD, which honestly, the best deal I’ve ever had on a vehicle. I understand everything is inflated, even the dealer sent me a buyback offer 33% higher than I payed. IMO this vehicle, other than rare luxury super cars, is the closest thing you can find as an “investment” in this category. I don’t see a reality that I ever need to part with her for more than 3-5% off original price, about a 40 percent dip from current value on the open market. Pretty sick IMO.

Buying a vehicle based on future resale value is just plain dumb.

If I was offered $65k for you Pro I'd take it in a heart beat. These high ass prices will only last so long.

Well personally I purchased for the same reason I didn’t sell, love the vehicle too much. It does give peace of mind knowing that when it’s payed off next year I have a 40-50k asset I can sell should times get weird again. That being said my number is 80k. Lol.

They may be the capitols, yet every time I turn around here in S. New Mexico, I see a 4 runner. Lots of Pros and OR down here, and lots of Limited's as well.

Yup, this is a rare fluke in history so those who plan to sell better do it now especially since the 2022 trd models will supposedly be available in lunar rock, that will make the value sink

The resell will always be great on a 4runner just very foolish to think of it as an appreciating asset

Just to clarify, I'm not buying the car to resell.

I love 4Runners (dad had 2 generations over ~15 years) but I consider this a worthwhile investment of my money since it has historically held its value well and I am gambling that it will hold better if the production changes from Japan to the US.

I absolutely love the LR color more than any so far and I want the vehicle even more now that it seems I may not get one.

I put my order in towards the end of May so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

@Pavo Is the Lunar Rock projected to be offered in 2022 as well? If it is, I don't mind if it's less rare as long as I can get the color I love haha

Hoping everyone else can get the 4R they want as well!

Even speculating what the future will be is dumb. But at least you plan on keeping it.

just my two cents, but if you plan on buying to keep, i don’t think you should really think about resale value especially with 4R holding their value and this market is probably a once in a lifetime occurrence

definitely a tough spot for OP without much info on what other trim will get LR for 2022 and how easy it will to come across one, but hoping you get the car you want

I'm just trying to be nice man...but you seem to have some pretty elementary views on planning for the future.

Hopefully if you decide to buy a new home you don't just call everyone stupid for speculating on future values of your purchase. Planning to make a good investment is one of the smartest things you can do if you care about making an educated financial decision. All things you buy are investments in different ways and I would consider my vehicle to be a larger one.

I don't see how that is much different from me speculating on the value of my vehicle later if or when I decide to sell it.

Going into threads and simply calling peoples' ideas stupid multiple times isn't very constructive.

Huge detail for sure. The Tundra not being made in Japan was a big part of my choice not to get one.

Has to be a 21. They aren't making the 22 PRO in LR, right? Sounds like you are cutting close in terms of actually get a 21 built this late.

I talked to a dealer at the end of June and they just let me know last week they secured an allocation for a 21 LR Pro being built 7/22. I was feeling lucky because I’m getting it at MSRP but sounds like I may have been really lucky to get one at all!

the Lunar Rock is a 2021 only Pro color. That said it will be offered in other trims in 2022 just not the Pro. The 2022 special Pro color is Lime Rush which I would get if I could afford one.

I NEED to know if the 22 is the last of the 5th gen and if the 6th is made in Japan or not. I NEED TO KNOW! That lime rush might be "it" if this is the last run of the 5th.

I like “seasonal stream” prob means it’s twenty foot deep in the spring and the whole place floods out. Get a Lunar Rock, I would If I got the income I deserve.
