    Yep, there is no free lunch.

    There is a reason the vehicles like Land Cruisers, Pajeros, and Patrols you see being used for true overlanding and traveling in unstable regions have regular size tires (more robust versions of course).

    Not necessarily.

    The transmission ratios make up for it, these have a crawl ratio of approx 40:1, the 5th gen is closer to 35:1.

    I forgot the exact numbers, but I did the math on it awhile back. The 8 speed has a much lower 1st gear than the 5 speed.
