255/80R17 tire size

    The falkens im interested in is the r/ts. The new falken tire.

    Either 255/75 or 255/80 work great on stock wheels. Once you get into the 0 to -10 range on wheel offset, rubbing becomes a possibility.

    If you’re looking for an R/T, check out the Kenda Klever R/T. I’m currently on 33x10.5r17 on TRD OR wheels. Pretty close in size to a 255/80/17. I’m running the Eibach pro stage one lift, didn’t trim or bmc and I don’t rub.

    Thanks, @RedRunner87. Just curious how you are liking them after 50k. Any issues with rubbing, or any issues in general? I would be mounting them on TRD Off-Road wheels (no aftermarket). I would prefer no/minimal modifications for them to fit. Thanks in advance.

    Looks great. Im going to get Cooper AT same size 255/75r17 for my ORP on trd pro wheels. Or I might be trading in for a 24 LE next month and will try putting those same trd pro wheels and 255/75r17 on the Limited. We shall see soon. Definitely looks good on ORP, not sure how it would look on a LE

    I ran mine with SR5 wheels with no lift and it rubbed slight on the front mud flap which I removed. When I added 1.25" spidertrax spacers, I had more rubbing on the front bumper.

    I absolutely love this size. I am looking to replace them this winter with 255/80 Wildpeak RT's or Open Country RT Trails. Haven't quite figured out which one I am going with.

    I should be around 5/32 left on it.

    Thanks for the information. I appreciate the response. I understand a lift does not solve rubbing, but I already have a 2.5 inch lift with 265/70 17 KO2s; keeping about 3/4 rake (measuring from rocker) keeping rear rake. I really like the 255/80 and wanted to do as little modification to accommodate that size. Might be able to heat and push in the front flap?

    You most likely could. I just figured it was easier to just remove them as I liked the look better.

    Again, thanks for the feedback and photos of the 4Runner. Looks great. I think the 255/80 is the direction I want to go.

    Any rubbing on the front fender?

    Only with the 1.25" spacers as it increases the scrub radius of tires. With TRD OR wheels you *should* be fine.

    I have loved this size. No lift with Method 703s. Rubbed on the mudflaps and would have rubbed like crazy on the front, but I had a new bumper put on. No body mount rubbing I can see so far. But off roading will tell me more.

    265/70/17 BFG AT KO2, chapstick in the cup holder
    Just an observation. When you take pics with the sun behind the object being photographed, the shadows make things indiscernible. The black tire against the dark wheel opening, shadowed by the vehicle. Had the pic been taken of the passenger side of the vehicle we could see the tire and how it fits in the wheel opening. If you can have the light at your back, not behind the object, you get a better pic.

    My bumper/winch/wing combo definitely brought my front end down. I am going to replace my Ironman set up eventually so I am not worried about it

    I kinda figured you were stock. I think the stock springs are pretty soft, as the rear end squats a good amount too with weight. I would say go all in, but that is just me. My next set up will the "long" travel Dobinson MMR's. Hoping I can get a couple more years out these Ironmans.

    It's great this thread was resurrected. I debated for months about what tire size to get, 285's or 255's. The reviews and opinions I saw indicate that the 255's are a much better tire choice for the snow than 285's. I hadn't even thought about the aspect ratio. Reading that 255/80 will work on snowflake wheels, I'll get those.

    I had debated for so long on what to switch to. 255/80 was the proper choice. Definitely agree that the stock springs are soft.

    great video.

    wondering, he says narrow tire increases pounds of pressure per square inch the tread has on rocks and helps increase grip. What if said rock is pointy. Does this make narrow tire more likely to pop? I dunno, anyone have thoughts.
