    When car market collapse? New auto pricing is starting to feel like 2005 housing prices. Different animal of course, but how much higher do we need to go before their sales are affected significantly?

    Agreed with much of the above.. This pricing seems ridiculous.

    It kinda sucks that you're forced into a hybrid with the higher trims.

    The LC250 is looking more and more reasonable for anyone who is torn between that and the 4Runner. Of course, pricing isn't out, yet. But, it's probably safe to assume it will be more than the Taco for similar equipment.

    Countering efficiency gains with a smaller tank pains me.

    I know it’s a packaging/compromise issue but one thing I miss from my Sorento was the range that came with having the slowest, most efficient engine and the same tank as those with speedier engines. (18.8 gallons)

    Relative has an Ascent with a half-gallon larger tank (19.3 gallons) but that combined with LA's speed/traffic/hills makes for frequent stops at the gas station.

    I'm definitely jealous of the Highlander Hybrid's theoretical 500-600 mile range. (17.1 gallons)

    But I guess my consolation prize is that we've always had a couple gallons (23 gallons) over the 21 gallon Nissan trio. (2005+ Frontier/Xterra/Pathfinder)

    At this rate I may as well buy a GX550 for that kind of money.
    I'm just tying to avoid the extra 30+ minute drive to the Lexas dealer though the Plano/Frisco traffic. Of course that's nothing compared to my 2 - 3 hour IE/OC/LA commute when I lived there, I've gotten spoiled.

    With the pricing of the I-Force Max Tacoma just being announced now who knows when these will even be available. The new 6th gen TRD Pro and Trailhunter will probably not be available for another year.

    so i will be guessing the platinum will fall in about 58-59k and the limited will fall in 56-57k since its a suv body and you have more bodywork to pay for.

    its crazy on the pricing since we paid 63k (67k msrp) for our 23 platinum 4x4 5ft non HV after discount but before trade in.

    its going to be a extremely long hard sell to jump down to a tacoma limited (the wife is really hard up to park in the garage again during the winters, she's getting to old to clean off snow during the winters with the tundra sitting outside all year)

    This is unfortunate. I really like the 4Runner redesign and was leaning towards a Pro. After seeing the Tacoma pricing I’ll more than likely be going with the GX Overtrail.

    The TRD Pro and Trailhunter are basically fully fungible with a GX 550 or Landcruiser from a pricing perspective. I'll be honest, I was bracing for $60-65k max for a top trim 4Runner when I put my deposit down. Didn't think they'd hike it THIS much but based on the Tacoma pricing, the hybrid top trims are $70k+ trucks. WOW. $70K+ is bad enough just on the price increase but combined with the current rate environment, one has to think maybe finally sales will taper off and or decline. But then again, who is willing to bet against the American consumer, leveraged purchases, and over-extending?

    I can’t wait to actually drive that engine but that article and read are super informative. Given the torque curve, it makes sense that the driver said they seldom had the engine above 3,000 RPMs. With the electric motor supplementing the turbo four, it has such prodigious torque off idle. There are so many who are claiming it was created for small cars and or it will be unreliable. The former is not true and it’s been further bolstered with many new parts (i.e. cooling, oil pumps) to diffuse a V8 engines worth of engine heat. Imagine an engine that rarely needs to be spun above 3k rpm and the impact that has on cylinder wall friction, crankshafts, connecting rods, etc. When I’m driving up hills at altitude, I’m often holding revs above 4500-5000+ RPMs in my current Taco V6. Toyota deployed the more mechanically simple and most reliable hybrid electric setup too, emphasizing reliability over max mileage or performance. Pretty cool stuff. Sounds like the engine is likely to be under-stressed, the way all their truck engines have been historically.

    OOh my, over on IH8MUD there are some real sad folks and heads hanging low with disappointment over the new Prado and FraudRunner. They are probably all trolls. Better that than sock puppets.

    Go back through all the Speculation threads guys and you will find that Nagville’s predictions were 100% on target. And it gives me absolutely no pleasure to be so right on this very solemn occasion. But it was clearly in the cards, for anyone who wanted to see, to see. Game over.

    Bassackwards is such a great asset to this forum because you can set your clock to him. Anything he says is geometrically opposed to the truth. If he makes a statement, you can bet the farm the exact opposite is true. That is a rare talent. And if you know how to read him, you could navigate the globe with his misstatements as a compass.

    This is a little disconcerting. Makes me fear that the non-hybrid might feel underpowered so they decided it was necessary to offer a “better” version of the exact same vehicle.

    “Fuel economy isn’t the priority either. Compared with their gas-only equivalents, hybrid Tacomas get around 2 mpg more in the city, 1 mpg more on the highway, and 1 mpg more combined. Really, this is about performance.”
