We have another branch of government that is supposed to be able to handle issues like privacy in a nonpartisan way: the judicial branch. We have had all the laws we need for the judicial branch to handle it for over two hundred years with no new ones needed really. Simple legal concepts like fraud and ownership suffice in this case if used properly. Something went wrong somewhere along the way.

I hate to say it, but it seems to me that the matter of personal privacy may be purely a political animal.

The US constitution gives us protections against the government, but politicians will decide how far that right extends between an individual and a huge groups of individuals (businesses). So far, these businesses have built empires based on one sided EULAs. In the last 30 years, a lot of money, and industry, and even many societal structures have been built around the act of vacuuming up and weaponizing personal data. Personally, I think many of these practices are fundamentally wrong. I’ve thought that since the days that Google’s motto was “Don’t be evil” (pretty sure they meant that sarcastically even then). But that opinion doesn’t matter unless a lot of other people are also convinced that it’s fundamentally wrong. That’s pretty much a political process by nature. Perhaps enough people already think that, but elected representatives need to believe they would get voted out if they ignore this issue.

The sad part is that the “political industrial complex” has gotten so good at what they do, that politicians are the ones creating people’s opinions. Not the other way around. No doubt, political parties have perfected this skill by mercilessly leveraging personal data, harvested off of individuals unknowingly.

The judicial branch is supposed to be in charge of that. Simple concepts of fraud and ownership would be fine in the situation that is the topic of this thread, even without any statutory law passed by the politicians. Politicians always go off the rails. The judicial branch is supposed to keep the sanity.

Pragmatism, critical thinking, and logic......lost "skills." That, and indoctrination definitely works. Sadly, for 30% of the population it works way too easily. Another 30% are tough sells but ultimately become "modified." The middle 30% are in a unique position to affect the balance. The key to a majority win for good of humanity rests w/ the middle.

I had to laugh at a post about logic and you only accounted for 90%.

Naw, not triggered, just laughed at the irony of a statement that involves a discussion about critical thinking logic and then presents percentages that only add to 90.

I’ll go back to join the rest of my 30%.

^Missed the point chief. The "accounting error" was intentional. Nice pissing contest though :)

I missed the point too. Why did you intentionally leave out 10%?

When I saw the missing 10%...

I thought of the "men who wanted to be left alone"

it may be more than 10%

I was being nice and telling your math skills suck so therefore your post is irrelevant.

say what you want, you keep trying to stir shit, first I was triggered OCD, then I missed the point, now it’s a trap.
    Have a nice day.

I attached the wiring diagram for a 5th gen DTS, it includes wire colors and connector descriptions. Just take out the glove box and it will be on the left side. Yes you can turn it off with the SOS switch but its a matter of principle to me to not allow the option of any data transmission.

Since the 1950s most Americans don’t eat real food. Outside of the US, yes.

You can use VPN, disposable email and phone number and offload apps you don’t use. No state or federal law requires to use your real name, DOB or other data so you can do a lot of things to make their life more difficult. I’m not talking about law enforcement just the data mining companies. You can choose to share location once and not even precise location. Tons of privacy settings are in the newer iOS but most people are too lazy to adjust them. Same with the car. I turned DCM off on the driveway of the dealership. No Toyota app or anything else.

Simply removing the DCM fuse is a good start.

Two easy steps that will get you 90% there:

Step 1: Press SOS button, speak to a person that answers and tell them you want connected functionality disabled and all your data deleted. Ignore FUD objections and keep insisting.

Step 2 (to be done only after Step 1 is completed): Remove DCM fuse.
