They will definitely give you better on and offroad performance when compared to the stock Tokico shocks on your Offroad. It depends on how much you can get them for but generally speaking, they are pretty spendy (both new and used) for what you get.

If you spent just a bit more on a quality aftermarket shock they would be quite a bit beefier, have reservoirs, valving adjusters, and threaded shock bodies for an adjustable lift height up front.

If you don't buy it from your neighbor, PM me & let me know how much he's asking. I might buy it.

He wants $1500 which is more than I’m prepared to spend. If he comes down to $1000 I’d probably pull the trigger.

I don't see it specified in your profile, or any of your posts, but if you have KDSS, the Fox suspension won't work. If not, fine.

Used prices vary. I’ve seen them listed at 2k, but no idea what they actually sold for. I sold mine with 40k miles and upgraded eibach springs for 800

This is not true It can be used with KDSS , just needs to be installed the right way by some that knows how
$ 1k to 1200 is a fair price to pay

He should have not bought the off road pro but the cheaper SR5 if he was going to remove the suspension already.

I chose to install the oem fox suspension on my limited after having 2 different aftermarket suspensions (dobinsons & eibach). For me, I just wanted a smooth and soft on road ride that the aftermarket segment just did not provide. Kings may offer this as well but I was never able to see how they actually ride compared to the Trd pro.

How's the on road handling with the Pro setup compared with the stock Limited suspension?

Limited XREAS is by far better than TRD Pro Fox. XREAS absorbs the bumps on the road excellent.

I think it was night and day between the two, your best bet would be to go and test drive a pro or limited to see for yourself. The fox seemed to offer a much softer ride on rough roads.

I’m very surprised that you feel that way, I had the complete opposite experience but everyone has their own preferences so I think he needs to test drive a pro or limited to see for himself. Everyone told me that my aftermarket suspension prts I chose after deliberate research would offer a much better/smoother ride. They were very wrong.

    Edit:

I probably look like a noob on this particular forum but my experience comes from having 3 different 4-Runners in the last 10 years and frequenting t4r.org for much longer!

    True, Definitely personal preference.

With my experience XREAS absorbs every bump on road vs TRD Fox I can feel all those cracks and bumps on local and highway roads.

Vs on trails TRD Fox absorbs the big bumps and I don't feel like the vehicle dips down and bounce up on rough.

Again not easy to explain unless someone drive both and see what they like.

The way things are now at least at the local dealership there are basically none available to test drive. I'm waiting on an ORP and hoping for one with KDSS. If I can get one with KDSS, I'll just leave it alone since I'm not really interested in lifts. If not, I'll get new shocks for a non KDSS. The Pro setup is expensive but it sounds like a nice way to go and gives another alternative besides the usual choices. Does the Pro setup seem to help with decreasing body roll going around curves on the road?

I wonder why there seems to be so much negativity about the XREAS if it's actually a nice system?

Negativity is because of the cases of leaking. As for functionality on-road - very good.

If the Pro was an SR5 with different suspension, you'd be right...

I second this. The Fox suspension on my ‘21 PRO is much more plush than the XREAS system was on my ‘14 Limited. When the two front shocks started leaking I went with a lifted Dobinson suspension. It is even stiffer and it now rides too harsh for my liking after removing weight from the truck. Kinda wish I could replace it with softer system without breaking the bank.

Question: Did you re-use the limited front sway? If so did you need different front sway bar endlinks? For the rear I'm assuming you swapped your limited rear spring for a SR5/TRDPro/TRDoffRoad rear spring? Did you re-use the original rear sway bar end links?

yes I reused the front and rear sways and the endlinks. I did choose to swap the rear springs to the trd pro take off’s since I got them with the purchase

Awesome! Thanks. I have been studying the parts diagrams @ parts.toyota.com and trying to figure out the differences. Looks like endlinks front and rear are the same.
